2004 C5 2.2 HDI fuel pump relay

Unread post by Kotindustrie »

Hello there,
i recently bought a 2004 C5 2.2 HDI on which the fuel pump relay is broken. The previous owner fittet a fuse holder between fuse 2 and ground so if you put in a fuse the pump will start. I've been told the relay is somewhere behind the fuse box on the inside but i can't find anything. Does anyone know where that relay is?

The fuel pump relay is an integral part of the under bonnet fuse box, It's not meant to be a separate replaceable part.

If the bypass is putting power directly to the pump when the ignition is switched on & bypassing the relay this is potentially dangerous in the event of a accident & should not be left like that.

I had a similar problem with our old Xsara and I wired it up from an ignition controlled live point taken off the fuse box bypassing the relay. I did wire it through the original (separate) impact switch on the car and a separate fuse for safety though.

It ran like that for several years after and was still in place when we sold the car.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, saved me a lot of searching. I am going to replace the fuse box since they are not that expensive.
