Well done that man!
The front mech had been frustrating me for months. I'd put a new cable on it, adjusted it, followed every video I could find about adjusting it properly - nothing.
It was only last week when the boy broke the rear derailleur hanger and I had to fit a new one that I had to look along the bike, at an angle I'd never looked before - derailleur cage totally bent out of shape, yet from every other angle it looks fine. A quick belt with the willow wrench, square on the top of it had it back working in no time!

Ah the thwack of willow against chromed steel!

Back in my cricketing days a frequent comment from the slips when I was batting was "We love to hear the swish of willow biting fresh air!" :-D

Needed to be creative today and dredge up some primeval skills.

Seems so wrong to have non-BT tools in a BT wallet Mick...

You know mine has ;)

I know what you mean Jim, but I must confess that the handles on the new drivers are far more effective than my full BT set, which are now in the tool rack in the garage. As for the eighty ones and strippers, replaced with original design and BT issued kit now in car tool pack in the back of the Subaru. They'll never be ditched!! :-D

Well time for another little household maintenance job. On Wednesday SWMBO complained to me that the oven was sending "smoke" out from the bottom of the door and it needed looking at. I duly went and opened the door and looked at it :

It was clear that the door seal had seen better days!! So I did my due diligence and rejected the replacement seal from the manufacturer due to the £54.99 price tag!!! After further research I came across a universal oven door seal kit on Amazon which could be used on almost any electric fan oven for £9.99!! Following true Falcon bargain principles I ordered it for next day delivery from my Amazon Prime account. That was on Thursday evening and it didn't quite make next day but arrived on Saturday morning. The kit looks like this:
Own work
Own work
Basically a single length of seal to be cut to size and two sets of serrated joiners for either round or square cornered ovens:

You can see the joiners have spikes to push into the oven latch holes:

Then it was a simple matter of pulling off the old seal which really has seen better days:

And fitting the new one:

The only two things which need a little attention are to make sure the spikes all face the right way as you make up the new seal and to cut the rubbers 25-30mm shorter than the distance between the holes to ensure they are stretched when fitted.

Another few brownie points banked for Christmas!! :-D
