Xantia H.D.i. 2.0L LHM return pipes

Unread post by stevestix8 »

Hi all,

Been a while since posting but still got my S reg Xantia and it's still good!

Have just been for a pre mot and the 2 LHM suspension return pipes are cracking and need replacing.

They are only about 1 ft long rubber pipes (that sit under the wheel arch) but does anyone know the name of these and if they are still gettable brand new?

Will be searching Eurocarparts etc and see if can get some new, but any help (with part number or name of part) is appreciated.

Cheers in advance,

Steve

Strut returns I believe Steve...

They are little more than just pipes as they have a moulded rubber 'foot' on one end that sits on the strut and is secured with a large clip...

Also try to obtain new clips as the old ones are, on occasion, not really reusable and cable ties are not a good solution either ;)

Hi Jim,

Good to hear from you and hope you keeping well.

Have been reading about people jerry-rigging a piece of 4mm silicone piping with circular hose clips, as it is a low pressure return pipe.

Have also found what I think are the right part for £12.99, see link:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371906842767

Will be contacting and confirming if these fit my car but they look identical (95050399 part number).

Cheers,

Steve

Just a couple of notes
Make sure you clean the surface VERY VERY well before you fit the new pipe, and also use the correct clip (the original one if Citroen is always better than after-market)

Ohh
and most silicone tube is NOT compatible with LHM.............

Hi all,

Just want to say a quick thanks for the advice with these low pressure leak off pipes.

After some fuss fitting the new pipes and the O ring clips (crimping in those clips is a rubbish design), I stopped the leak.

Took it back for it's MOT Friday and it passed.

For the record the emissions were less than a quarter of the limit again this year, not bad for a car coming up to 25 year old.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi all,

Re: Xantia 2L HDI 110bhp

Further to my last post, does anyone know the name or part number of the LHM return 'spider' pipes that sit behind the engine (central to the 2 front wheels)?
I have replaced the 2 leak off pipes to the 2 front wheels (25 year old rubber pipes) and am thinking about the other pipes that may be cracking and brittle.
I have been researching and there seem to be several different types, have found this on eBay (see link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363676953787) that might be right but there are others that look alot more spider like lol, i.e. more complicated.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Sticky,

Thanks for that link.

Mine is the Non-hydractive, Right hand drive.

I am not sure though when the cut off date between OPR 82820 and OPR 82801 was, mine was registered in the last week of Dec 1998.

Either way I have the diagram and will look at what other leak off pipes need replacing.

Until OPR 08280
Since OPR 08281?

The differences will be very slight Steve and not consequential...
