Citroen C5 X7 Wheel alignment

Unread post by nomad123 »

Hello everybody!

I have Citroen C5 x7 2.0hdi 103kw exclusive for almost 8 years. Very satisfied with this car.
I have done front and rear wheel alignment yesterday and the values they gave me doesnt match the values I found on this forum.
Screenshot_20221006-000729_Gallery.jpg

Is this okey what they have done?
Rear wheel aligment at +0.25 and +0.24
Values provided by Citroen are +0.34 +-0.09.

Also camber and castor values are off by some degree both front and rear. What could cause this?

Thanks 😊

Administrator Note: Be aware that the image above is only for the Hydraulically sprung C5X7, not conventionally sprung models.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

0.34 - 0.09 = 0.25

So the rear values of 0.25 and 0.24 are pretty much spot on, no?

Thank you Ross.
Yes, it is within the tolerance but maybe it would be better if they have set it up to 0.34? Or it doesn't make any difference?

What about castor and camber values that are out of Citroen data tolerances?

It doesn't matter - it's the lower end of the spec but it's fine.

For the rear camber, the spec is:
-1degree 16minutes, which is -1.27 degrees in decimal.

Your actual measurements are -1.27 and -1.58 on the rear, so this is perfect on one side and slightly out (by 0.31 of a degree) on the other side.

You can convert the specified front values from degrees and minutes to degrees decimal and compare these yourself. I'm guessing the values will match or be close, but again these aren't adjustable according to the first screenshot, so it's probably not something to worry about unless your tyres are being chewed up.

Looking at this, I'm surprised and somewhat disappointed at just how little is adjustable on these cars. :?

For those looking at this thread, please note the information that the original poster has used could be taken out of context as only part of the info has been reproduced in the images (which are identical incidentally, so is missing the data for metallically sprung C5 X7s)! I have now removed the duplicate image.

There are 2 lots of settings for the suspension / axle geometry and these are available here in the resources section for donating members:

Same goes for a lot of cars now. I had a 200,000 mile Honda with baggy rear suspension that was destroying tyres with a camber like this: /-\

The kids call it 'stanced' these days :rofl2:

but the only (affordable) way to fix it in my case was to do as they do and fit adjustable control arms:

Thanks everyone for your replies and your time.
I have one more question regarding air in suspension system but I will make separate thread.

That too is in the Resources section here. See if this covers your question before posting:

Does the ignition has to be on or the engine on when doing wheel alignment so the suspension is at correct height?

The ignition should be left ON whilst checking suspension geometry, otherwise it can skew the readings. The ignition will ensure the pump remains active and can operate to make height corrections if necessary once the vehicle in on the lift and where it could sink a little.
