A further update on the garage roof, I put a second coat of the sealant on the gulley today and cleaned the roof to wall joint removing all the invading Ivy in the process. Then I painted the exterior ply sheets we laid and now the joint is ready for the flashing which I'll get done over the weekend weather permitting. Again no pics today but I'll try and remember them when I fit the flashing!!

Off to the Screwfix live show tomorrow to see what goodies have come on the market and collect my bag of freebies which is purportedly worth £20!! :-D

A puller I made up today to help extract the remains of the flanged spacer behind the cambelt sprocket on Sally's TU engine...

I needed it despite the BoL saying it would just slide off... It was as tight as a tight thing in a tight place...

Busy fixing a significant oil leak from the crankshaft seal...

More in my blog when I have time...

Well I climbed up on the garage roof and finished the job this morning!! As the title of the thread says this is a proper case of funtion over finesse!! Not pretty at all I'm afraid but I found fixing 9" wide self adhesive flashing tape along a sloping roof very difficult to do neatly single handed!! However it is on there and I have ensured that the top edge is properly adhered for the full length so I am now confident that the issue is resolved!!

The boards I used for standing on are 15mm external ply and have now been painted with Ronseal timber paint with a 10 year guarantee so, as they cannot be seen from below I'm going to leave them as they are for easy access in the future!!

At last a picture, taken from our upstairs window as again I forgot while I was up there!! :-D

You can see the original trough sealant along the trough just in front of the boards which was the Bostik product I showed earlier. It has had two coats and the garage is now bone dry!! :-D

Completely filled the roof to rafter gaps in the end of the garage yesterday and I'll trim off the excess tomorrow when fully hardened. :

Once trimmed I shall declare the new garage layout complete!!

I have almost finished clearing out the workshop with just a couple of crates to deliver to the mancave and one to MK:

Which gave me a power washing job yesterday to prepare the empty crates for our neighbour to use for the Ukrainian Relief trips she does. :

At least they will have a more beneficial use now than for the last 15 years holding my junk!! :-D

I can now pronounce the workshop cleared and ready for negotiations between my landlady and I re the benefits of her renting it out "furnished" to the next occupier thereby saving me having to dispose of those larger items!! :-D

The final version of my TU engine oil seal flange puller...

In tne end it was not needed as normally the flange slides off very easily. I was unlucky to have a tight one!

Been out in the garden this morning making use of one of the ply sheets from the workshop and some of the left over flashing tape from the garage job.

Many sticks have floated under Poo's bridge since I built our "outside leanto store" which meant using the back of the shed and adding two sides and a flat roof. Its purpose has mainly been to store those things you never need but may come in useful one day, like 30 odd roof tiles that match the house ones, a couple of dozen bricks, a roll of chicken wire etc.. but SWMBO pointed out to me that after 12 years the north facing side was somewhat delapidated and allowing rain to penetrate its joint with the roof so I set to: :-D

Definitely no finesse there but very functional so as they say in Yorkshire "It'll do!" :-D

Well I've just had a reply from my workshop landlady regarding the furniture I have left in the unit. Unfortunately she has no use for it so I have to destroy three metal framed desks, a 3 drawer steel filing cabinet and a 6ft steel stationery cabinet in order to get them to the recycling without a van!! Unless I can find someone in the next week to give them a home!! Anyone interested let me know!! :-D

Put them on the kerbside with a note "Free to take." and they'll disappear in no time.

Unfortunately the yard is right at the end of a cul-de-sac on an industrial estate with virtually no foot fall other than other tenants. I have put a notice on the gates in case one of them is interested!!

You may have missed the sister thread that I started specifically for Vehicle DIY rather than general DIY to try and give a concentrated thread of car maintenance tips Jim so I have taken the liberty of copying this post over to there!! :)

We've had a couple of daylight break-ins reported on our estate in the last few weeks so I thought I'd upgrade our external security this morning!! A second life for one of the units I cleared from my workshop! :-D
