Bonnet catch woes

Hi all!

I bought an ebay bonnet catch for my c5 x7 estate, and low and behold it didn't fit.. The cable is about half a centimeter shorter than the older one. This meant the bonnet safety catch was permanently undone.

Bought a second one.. Same issue!

I triple checked the installation and I haven't done anything dumb I think..

I guess the aftermarket ones might just be built wrong? Will I need to bite the bullet and buy a genuine citroen part?

Most probably, for the price you may as well get a genuine one.
