Re: C5 height sensors
If it's a part request James, best put the request up in the Official Citroen Parts thread, as I may not pick it up elsewhere.
Item (1) BHI:
5277C9 (pre-configured) or
5277E0 (non-configured)
Both the above are for manual vehicles, NOT automatics.
The 'Heavy' suspension units were for only for the commercial vehicles (like ambulances) IIRC, that carried heavy equipment etc. or for custom vehicles laden with bullet proof panels a la armoured vehicles.

Re: C5 height sensors
Thanks, Marc, that is greatly appreciated. That should mean that the motors are the same. Hopefully I will get it swapped over tomorrow, and she may be running not long afterwards.

Re: C5 height sensors
Don't forget if you are replacing the ECU (i.e. the complete BHI). you will need to calibrate the steering wheel angle sensor too.

Re: C5 height sensors
With any luck (and a lot of twiddling) I may be able to just swap over the motor. It is only secured to the pump by three Torx bolts, and only has two simple cable connections (the complex connection is on the valve/pump section). I do not intend to swap the ECU, as the replacement is from a saloon car, with different ride characteristics/software.
If you look at item 1 in the diagram you may see that it is two items bolted together. The 'nearer' item with the box on top is the valve/pump side of things, while the 'further' item (below the shim and reservoir) is the motor.

Re: C5 height sensors
I believe it will be possible to replace the pump motor without having to take too much apart. However, it is very likely I will need to remove the LDS reservoir. There are three pipes that have the Citroen clips securing them in place. What tools do I need to open/close them? If they are not re-usable can I use Jubilee clips?

Re: C5 height sensors
As you might expect James, there is a dedicated tool, the name of which escapes me.
Jim determined that although it wasn't the best tool, that carpenters pincers work to remove and refit them.
This thing below is similar but less chunky that pincers. Bought a couple of weeks ago in either Aldi or Lidl for not many quid.
No car at the minute and I don't know if it uses similar clips so can't test its usefulness.

Re: C5 height sensors
Thanks Steve. Just been to B&Q and got a pair of their end cutters, as well as a small can of WD40 to clean up the plastics afterwards.

Re: C5 height sensors
NOT for lubricating anything! However, it does a very good job of cleaning plastics, and the offside liner is a mess.

Re: C5 height sensors
Good for getting some adhesives off, and silicone sealant, allegedly.
Also to treat parking sensors that have been jetwashed and flooded. Not too surprising as that was its original intention - Water Displacer
Pity is stinks so horribly.

Re: C5 height sensors
DRAT!!!
After several hours of playing part swap BALL is not a game she wants to play! I know that it is not the fuse, as it has not blown. I doubt it is the actual motor, as I got it from the same C5 as the Maxi fuse box (which is where I got the 40A fuse). I am considering the possibility that, to prevent people doing what I am trying (using a saloon pump in an estate car) the control wire for the solenoid uses a different pin. There are two connectors to the motor (and a multi-way to the valve block); one has two wires which appear to be heavy duty while the other only has one lighter wire (although there are two possible positions). If the A motor (saloon) uses one position and the C motor (estate) uses the other position that would explain why I am not getting a response. I hope to get to the scrappy first thing tomorrow to get that connector. If I am right I will (ideally) try to swap the positions, otherwise I will have to do a bit of soldering.
I have found it is not possible to detach the motor from the pump, but there are four T20 bolts holding the control block onto the pump, so (when you have removed the pump from the car) it is easy to swap it across.

Re: C5 height sensors
I tested the motor on my first one by opening the loom and pushing two needles into the heavy wires connected one to ground one to the pos on the battery and a pos on the battery to a needle pushed into the thin wire motor should run if it's ok.

I didn't think to test the motor, but if (IF, mind you) my suspicion is correct your test would not work.Gibbo2286 wrote: 21 Aug 2022, 20:52 I tested the motor on my first one by opening the loom and pushing two needles into the heavy wires connected one to ground one to the pos on the battery and a pos on the battery to a needle pushed into the thin wire motor should run if it's ok.

Re: C5 height sensors
Drat again! The motor is the same (well, the solenoid wiring is, as there is only one pin in a two pin socket, and the plug I just got from the scrappy is the same side).

Re: C5 height sensors
Have you had a trawl through this thread James?
I have a vague recollection that the single wire is to activate the pump.
