Keys

Post by Huskyxantia »

Im wanting to purchase a new remote central locking key then program it with pp200, i haven't the key card to the vehicle and understand there are two codes one for the chip one for the key . Would i need to go to the main dealer with proof the car is mine e.g logbook, driver licence to get said both codes or is there another way ?

You only need the one code - the security code to access the key programming area of the BSI. If you've got a key already then you can copy that, but note that some locksmiths will not cut 3rd party keys.

As Richard says you only need the immobiliser security code for programming however if you are buying the code from the dealer you would be as well getting the mechanical cut code too, most dealers will give you all of the codes for the same price. The mechanical code could come in handy in the future if you had an all keys lost situation.

Next thing is with that type of PSA key the Chinese knock offs are notoriously bad for not working correctly, I've tried a couple of them & normally the chip programs OK to start the car but the remote just wont sync. I've never had any issues with the Chinese knock off newer full CAN flip type remotes, only this type.
At that price its certainly worth a punt though.

Ive purchased a cheap key , ive emailed the main stealers asked them for assistance regarding codes but think ive already found the numbers needed, just need the key cut.

Absolutely not. I had a blank key cut to match an existing one for my C5 X7. I only had £17 in cash in my pocket at the time and asked if the bloke would copy it for that and he agreed. That was about five years ago but I don't think inflation is that bad!

Nooooo, not even close. For starters you can buy a pre cut blade from the dealers for around the £30 mark.
Any hardware store that does regular house keys should be able to duplicate an NE73 blade no problem. Its just a regular ridge cut key. I wouldn’t expect to pay any more than the cost of getting a normal house key done.
I understand that a lot of car key guys are reluctant to cut cheap Chinese key, some of the cutting bits for these machines can be up to £50 a pop.

That was also the reason a couple of key cutters gave me for not wanting to do the job.

Not a lot of help to you but I wanted a spare key for my Civic as my son and I both use it. Contacted a mobile auto-locksmith who cut and programmed it for £130.
It is a Peugeot key fob :)

What a bloody waste of time.... so i emailed peugeot they telephoned me back i thought it was a called center from pakistan as it was so so soooo similar i could barley understand the lady ..... all she did was give me the phone number and postcode to the place i emailed , i said i just needed the codes for the key , she said yes you will be given them once they have made you a new one , price £279... or more .. once i got up off the floor from collapsing she then asked to rate her 8 out of ten in a survey of how she delt with my enquiry she told me to give her at least an 8 out of ten no more no less , im sorry but when you do surveys you put what you feel and not what your told moral of this post , if a jobs worth doing .... do it yourself. Totally peeeed offff...
