No, I don't think it is.. When it was flying the wings looked like those of a Red Admiral.mickthemaverick wrote: 31 Jul 2022, 09:18 James, your butterfly pictures are in fact a Tiger Moth which seem to be on the increase in SE England.![]()
EDIT; However, it may well be a Jersey Moth.

Spotted a 2019 C-Elysée 1.2 on Spanish plates earlier. Not something you see every day…

We used to have Tiger Moths flying over our house just after the war, Biggin Hill trainer planes. That one is prettier though.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
It's quite surprising how many butterflies we see that are actually moths. From memory moths have 2 wings and butterflies have 4 wings. No such thing as moths only come out at night

There are many useful and informative threads on the FCF.

For Instance
I use it as a public convenience for my own mileage monitoring, annotated and embellished of course with a few entertaining randomly connected images. There is also a sister thread, for those number noticing moments as mileometers tick over to some pleasing or significant number.
Todays POTD Challenge....come up with a better chart than me shouldn't be difficult....doesn't have to be mileage related! That's the "Significant Mileage Photos" thread.....[minor effort alert]you need to take a photo[/minor effort alert]

Moths also rest with their wings down, butterflies with their wings up.

The POTD chart challenge hasn't got off to a great start, surely a pie beats a bar, and an exploded pie beats an ordinary pie...NewcastleFalcon wrote: 01 Aug 2022, 09:23 Todays POTD Challenge....come up with a better chart than me shouldn't be difficult....doesn't have to be mileage related
