Install VMWare Workstation Player (free for non-commercial use) from here: https://www.vmware.com/go/getplayer-win

Then download a 32-bit computer image from here: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/m ... tools/vms/

Make sure you pick one of the Win7 (x86) virtual machines from the first drop-down list, and VMWare from the second drop-down list.

Import it to VMWare, install Lexia, Diagbox, whatever and make a snapshot once you get it up and running. This is important because the virtual machine expires after 90 days and you don't need the hassle of installing Diagbox a second time :-D Just revert to your snapshot instead...

That's probably the 32 bit version but can you confirm that (and that it's not 64 bit)?

Ah ok, you need something a bit more modern to run virtual machines. Disregard my previous comment :)

If you want to wipe and reinstall Windows, I've got loads of XP installation CDs. Let me know if you want me to stick one in the post

It's not so much the operating system, but that any laptop that's running XP probably doesn't have the hardware needed to run a virtual machine.

Husky, for any of the past load of posts concerning Virtual Machines to be relevant, your laptop must support virtualisation technology. These are special features that allow the use of virtual machines. These options if available can be enabled in the BIOS (but be careful what you change there or you can end up with an unbootable laptop).

Having said that, even though the BIOS may have such options, that still does not mean the laptop hardware supports the technology, as the same BIOS may be used across different models of laptop that contain different hardware.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.
