I propose a huge tax on plastic bottles, McDonalds/Costa etc packaging too, along with all other similar things.
The revenue used to employ people to keep the place clear of litter.
Could be ex-McDonalds staff when the go bankrupt.
I have to agree there Steve, we'd all have been much better off if Old McDonald had stayed on his farm!! :-D

No photo.
Latish last night I looked out the back and thought I could see a star, not too excited as one was not enough tho be able to see any satellites.
Clearly a plane and not unusual as we are under the flight path for lots of destinations from Europe to America as well as British airports.
But the star resolved into an inverted 'V' with a bright light at the apex then strings of lights down the legs of the V and a red flashing light behind the apex light.
Unable to see the body of the plane due to lot clouds that it was flying through but it was definitely something to spin a UFO story around.

If I weren't so stupid I could have looked it up on 'Flight Aware'.

We had a fair bit of aircraft noise from Fairford but only the odd helicopter came this way. You might have seen one of the entrants coming or going.

This is in Washington, a few miles south of Newcastle Airport. Was up there the other day to drop grandson off, on his way to Bergen.
Definitely not a helicopter though.

On the military aircraft front, I took a pic of this one back in Feb this year, James made a decent suggestion and this article from the Northern Echo would confirm that such a spot was perfectly possible over the NE. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/ ... clarified/

The other large slow moving plane of similar profile as mentioned in the article is the Atlas A400M aircraft.

I don't actually know James, I will have to have a look at your suggestion. :-D
Looks like a good shout to me. Cant quite make out the markings on the plane in my photo to work out who's it is.

Here's the C17 Globemaster III

Doesn't explain the shape or lights.
There are plenty of military flights here but Flight Aware doesn't report them, for obvious reasons. Not the police helicopter either.

I thought military flights were quite common up north, aren't the 'Dambusters' based near Yorkshire, fighter jets though not bombers. Due to the valleys for training. https://images.app.goo.gl/eoUm8ZzKL93NPxML8 you may of seen a B2.
