Peugeot 308 GT 180 poor performance after cambelt change

Post by drayton11 »

I have a 2015 Pug 308 GT 180. It has new injectors, recon turbo etc & was running brilliantly.

I took it to a local garage for a cambelt & water pump change, due on mileage.

When returned it put on the EML with cam/crank syncro errors & would not start when hot. Garage were reticent but looked & say they have changed nothing but now it runs.

2nd attempt the car runs, but is down on power, takes 5-6 cranks to start & is returning 10 mpg less. The garage say all is well with the timing. I have put the car into Peugeot & they have checked the timing & confirm it is ok, but I am left with a very poorly performing car. I can't get the garage to engage.

I have Diagbox but I am unsure where to look as everything screams cam/crank timing to me but it looks ok.

The car had extensive work before I bought it including a new cylinder head & turbo, it was sold with issues but fitting & coding new injectors transformed it.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to start looking.

I am NOT certain of this, but I would suggest you check out the crank sensor. The symptoms you are describing are similar to that experienced by another Forum member, and the crank sensor was the first thing suggested by somebody with a lot more knowledge than I.

Thanks for the suggestion, logical as they have been working in that area, I would never have thought of it though. Crank sensor ordered, will update once fitted.

Changed the crankhaft sensor for an OE part, unfortunately no difference.

Changed the camshaft sensor to an OE part, car now starts normally on 2nd crank, feels a bit livlier but stutters/holds back as you try and accelerate, so some progress but there is still an issue, anyone got any other ideas. Thanks
