There are a number of standard reserved OBDII fault codes used in common by all vehicle manufacturers. That said, they can have different specifics for triggering the faults depending on the manufacturer's engine and engine ECU fitted.
On top of this you then have a range of codes that are constructor-specific for example Citroen C5 /C6 suspension codes that won't be applicable to other vehicles. Then there are codes for the later technology fitted that are also manufacturer-specific. It's why we ask for the VIN so we liken engine fault codes to the specific vehicle.

No problem, so just to clarify, standard OBDII codes, although generic in their meaning, can have very different causes or parameters for triggering that fault code according to the vehicle engine and engine systems fitted.

Re: c5 x7 1.6hdi airlock
So ......... had a conversation today at the garage.
Air leak on fuel filter where one of the sensors pushes in.
Also the main ECU may have a fault as garage has tested a spare ecu with success.
Am expecting some sort of result by end of week.
This garage specialises in Mercedes (including S class) and BMW with one of the brothers being the French national technical big cheese for "drift" racing.
Have been reassured that the turbo and engine are in good order.
Feeling that car is in car is in good hands.
