Midlothian's "Day in the Spotlight" Special Excursion is departing over the Lothianbridge Viaduct near Newtongrange, Midlothian and exiting stage right.

Thanks to all who contributed, and if you didn't there is always another county another day.

Two names come to mind but I've not seen that before or any pictures of either.
The Tailor of Gloucester and Robert Raikes.

Like catchphrase on the telly its quite a literal picture of a well known rhyme, and it isn't Suranne Jones of the eponymous TV Drama unrelated to the famous rhyme :-D

Good to bring the Tailor of Gloucester into the fold though, Beatrix Potter's own favourite of all her books.

and Robert Raikes, a pioneer of education.

on a slight trivia tangent, of all the churches in all of the UK how did that particular one in a place I have never heard of make it to be selected as the "Christmas Stamp".

How did St Andrews Church at Coln Rogers Gloucestershire get to make it to selection as a Christmas Stamp. :?:

On even more of a tangent, over on the Trivia Investigtion Team I came across an article on how the "children's painting" on the very first Christmas stamp in December 1966 came to be. I mistakenly remembered it to be a Blue Peter Competition...it wasn't but it was launched on the programme. The machinations of the "Establishment" in the story of how it actually became a reality is a tale of overcoming the objections, and a bit of persistence from the Post Master General at the time.

Well its quite unremarkable, Coln Rogers, and wiki has nothing to say about the stamp does mention Coln Rogers is a "Thankful" village, the uncurious will let that reference pass without looking it up, but surely not a fullsome enough reason to select it for a special issue Christmas Stamp.

Here's the full thing, but did someone from the Christmas stamps design team working party just stumble across the granted nice and colourful stained glass windows in the little church in the obscurely named Coln Rogers?

The 2020 Christmas Stamp Issue also featured 5 other Anglican Churches Windows.
Britain’s Christmas stamps capture the beauty of stained glass windows
Royal Mail said that the designs were “inspired by the artistry of stained-glass windows in Anglican churches the length and breadth of the country, focusing on the Nativity scene and the depiction of the Virgin Mary with the newly born Jesus Christ.”
Royal Mail Group Ltd. and the design firm Up designed the stamps, using photographs from different sources. Royal Mail described these designs as reflecting the “extraordinary detail and craftmanship of this highly specialised decorative art, covering a range of eras, styles and techniques.”
I think that's about as far as we get, St Andrews Coln Rogers is a Saxon, 11th Century pre-Norman conquest Church, and has a nice set of colourful stained glass windows depicting the nativity scene which are probably C19 by Heaton, Butler and Bayne of London. The firm are mentioned in the first day cover insert, and the windows at Coln Rogers undoubtedly met the brief.
