Clyde played at the Shawfield Stadium, Rutherglen between 1898 and 1986.
Rangers at Ibrox
Celtic at Celtic Park, Parkhead
After carefully tracing the boundary of the historic County of Lanarkshire on the definitive map, All three grounds, and indeed Hampden Park are within today's County in the spotlight.
So here is the least famous of them all!

Lanarkshire Vehicle Registrations. For convenience and generating just a few examples I have just selected "Lanarkshire" and come up with the area codes pre-74 of V, VA, and VD
If you want to include a bit of Glasgow quite a number of pre-74 plates to choose from here not surprisingly G, GA, GB, GC, GD, GE, GG
Might be fun to find an EGG! Me I'm just doing the ones on the stamp!
Regards Neil

Re: Today's County in the Spotlight:Part 2
Here's a GD which fits in the Glasgow part :
While looking for the cars I came across this unusual picture of a trio of Concordes at Glasgow Airport, not checked to see if it is in Lanarkshire because I felt it to be unusual enough in its own right to warrant posting!!
Not sure about Uddingston's most famous product.......I'd like to chew on that one for a bit!

No problem at all to find music for Lanarkshire, one of my favourite Scottish songs sung by my Mother's favourite Scotsman:

Re: Today's County in the Spotlight:Part 2
A personal story which played out in Lanarkshire:
When I was running my car buying company I had a client who wanted a very specific MGF colour and equipment spec. I spent nearly a week searching the country for the right car and eventually found it in a dealer in East Kilbride. I negotiated the deal subject to viewing over the phone and then booked a flight to Glasgow on a Thursday morning arriving there at 09.50. All went well and I walked out of the airport around 10.15 and asked the cab driver to take me to Glasgow Central so I could get a train to East Kilbride.
In a broad Glaswegian accent he asked where are you heading on the train and I told him. "What if I take you straight there for the train fare then?" he asked " I of course had no problem with that as it would save me the cab fare into the station. So I jumped in the front with him, it was a Volvo diesel, and we set off for the dealer. He then began his monologue of the benefits of not driving into the city centre to avoid all sorts of things, most of which I didn't understand! Anyway after about 30 minutes we arrived at the dealer and he pulled up on the forecourt and switched off his engine! I was a little bemused but basically ignored that, settled up with a £20 note and got change and jumped out of the cab.
I went into the dealer to find the chap I had been dealing with, and we went out to the 'sold' area at the back where the car was parked. I gave it a good going over with special inspection of potential head gasket issues and once satisfied took it out for a test drive. We left via the back gate had about 10 minutes around the local roads and returned into the back of the yard. We then went inside to arrange my bank transfer and complete the sale and finally I got out to the car, fitted my trade plates and headed for the front gate. As I drove across the forecourt I saw my cabby still sitting there munching a sandwich, it must have been 45 minutes since he had dropped me off. I pulled alongside and thanked him again asking "Are you not going back to the airport?" "Not until I get a fare," he replied, going on to explain that the dealer was a friend of his brother's and they usually called for a cab once or twice a day so he might as well save the return fuel until he had a passenger!! I smiled to myself thinking it's not all myth what they say about the Scots then!!
Anyway that was the conclusion of my interactions in Lanarkshire and I set off for home arriving just after eight in the evening. A nice driving car but too noisy for my liking!!

Always worth reviving this, some if not all of the films will involve bits of Glasgow within The borders of Lanarkshire. You can always enjoy the trams trolley buses and old cars!

I came across her today, providing the background track to this "Bell Book and Candle" followed by "I wish I was in Glasgow"-Billy Connolly

I can say that this is part of the history of Glasgow, I have been on probably around 1965 ish.
Never knew at the time, but a mere 6 mile loop, and described as a toy town train

Two random facts for Lanarkshire....
Midge Ure was born in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire.
And the bloke who is widely regarded to have been the originator the Ordnanace Survey - Major General William Roy - was born in Carluke, Lanarkshire.
