Might I suggest that, next time you have the rear callipers off, you put some gasket paper between the calliper and the trailing arm? I did this on my first C5, but we never got to see if this would prevent that corrosion.

I always had the rear slightly lifting while brakeing and I always thought it to be normal.

Two years ago MOT tester complained about my rear brakes being weak. I never noticed a thing. I ignored it and next two years no one complained.

Anyways it seems you are due for a change, I would change all the spheres if I could. Nothing like a Xantia with all new spheres! Let us know if that really helped.

Still love my Xantia and plan to keep it as long as diesel is available in the market.
