I went to Cambridge to buy my C5 X7. Does that count?

Of course, is there a little story you can add of the trip?

the other bit I circled on the "Newmarket" map was Exning Solar Park

Its all wrapped up in the Exning Estate Suffolk, but this bit is at Newmarket Heath which is in the purple of Cambridgeshire. Savills are marketing the estate including the 30 MW let solar farm spanning 155 acres, for £50M.

Urm, this was when I discovered that cars of this age have an anti-syphoning device in the fuel filler pipe. This PITA modification made filling up from a jerry can more difficult than it should have been and resulted in far too much of said diesel fuel being spilt on the ground.

Later on, when driving back home and darkness fell and the headlamps came on I found that the dipped beam bulb on the driver's side was wildly out of adjustment and irritating oncoming traffic. I had to suffer 2 hours of headlamp flashes (and muttered apologies) before I got home! I later found that the problem was a cheap bulb with the filament badly positioned.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Been to Cambridgeshire a few times, eldest son lived in St Neots for a while.
First visit though was I drove a lorry from Sweden to the Wainco factory, who we had bought a film processing machine from. Left the lorry at their factory and overnight their joiners built the machine securely into the lorry, so it wouldn't be damaged, it was a fairly delicate piece of equipment, 40' long, 4' wide and 8' high. Cost more than the boss' Bentley.
Back on the ferry to Sweden the next morning.

Couple which caught my eye

Happy families! An Early ER

An example of aVE. Like the signwriting on the door, not an Austin Cambridge by real name but not far off, and one of the first vehicles I drove.

Steve, St Neots will crop up in Huntingdonshire's Day in the Spotlight yet to come. Just outside of the purple on today's historic county :-D

Having a quick look at breweries and pubs, I think for Cambridgeshire, I am going to pass, and seek out the Orchard Tea Garden at Grantchester, “A corner of England where time stands still as the outside world rushes by” .

Pink Floyd have a bit of a Cambridgeshire Connection and not just framing Ely Cathedral on the Division Bell Album Cover.

Storm Thorgesson who was responsible for some iconic album covers, grew up in Cambridge and attended school there with Roger Waters and Syd Barrett, and a teenage friend of Dave Gilmour and best man at his Wedding.

Quite a list of Album Cover Designs , for a long list of artists, many of which will be in record collections of our very own FCF Members and guests.

Swaffham Prior In Cambridgeshire, is doing one of those Community get together and do something schemes on the energy front.

Basically a field with boreholes, not a borehole in everyone's garden, and an energy centre from which heat is distributed to individual homes via a distribution network of pipes in the village. A retro fit district heating scheme powered by communal ground source heat pumps. The village is off the gas grid, and most current heating is oil.

Some Boreholes have been sunk and as of the last newsletter (December 2021) it was still happening.
Bit of a delay in news I would have thought with none recorded in the 6 months since. Then again that has coincided with the energy price crisis.

No doubt many movies and TV drama's have used Cambridge as a backdrop but when it appears in a series covered by the guide to Avengerland, so much the better.

Now who remembers Hillary Tindale :?:

Well she appeared in this episode of the Champions, mentioned thus in the Guide to Avengerland.
http://www.avengerland.theavengers.tv/
THE CHAMPIONS: The Ghost Plane (John Gilling: Autumn 1967)
Sharron and Craig (Stuart Damon) go to interview Dr. John Newman at Cambridge University (Kings College and Clare College). Later Newman's secretary, Vanessa (Hilary Tindall) leaves Clare College and walks to her car parked on Trinity Lane. As she drives off and is followed by Sharron in her Mercedes. Craig leaves Clare and he is surprised to find the car gone. As Stuart walks down Bridge Street he gets a psychic message to telephone Richard. He runs across the road from St. John's College to use the telephone box. After being told that Sharron is in danger he persuades a passing motorist to give him a lift in a Volkswagen.
The full episode looks like its still available on Dailymotion
Spoiler: show
Here's Hillary in Trinity Lane Cambridge stepping into a White Cortina.

There bet you didn't expect that on Cambridgeshire's day in the spotlight :-D

One place in Cambridgeshire has significance for me for two separate reasons. My graduation ceremony was held there and it was the first stop on our 2020 September Stroll:

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Unfortunately all of the Nene Valley Ralway runs outside of the traditional County of Cambridgeshire, it runs from Peterborough, through a short loop of Huntingdonshire, into Northamptonshire. So we will have to rely on a bit of old film from 1959 at Cambridge Station for my railway contribution today.
