We don't have any shortage of fuel here (Romania) so I'm trying to understand the situation. While the high price definitely does not help, I think almost all the petrol is locally refined from the locally extracted oil. We do import a lot of diesel and we still have a lot of diesel cars so ... that.

Surely at these sort of prices, individuals must be reducing their demand for the stuff, by consciously cutting back on the miles they do.

I need to put another 5 litres in the Micra, just to have it ready for its van-like activities round the doors, but keep putting off parting with £10 to top it up. Indeed seriously thinking about SORNing it when the MOT runs out next month.

I filled up at Sainsburys on Thursday. E10 was £1. 819.
Passed Shell and Jet stations that were both more expensive, over £2.

BP in Lower Early just charged me £1.918 per litre of diesel. Out and about today I saw it for £2.049 in Henley on Thames! Mind you, the motorway service stations will add a bit onto that.

The traffic down here is quieter than usual for the time of year so maybe the price is biting.

With the petrol prices going up and people not using thier cars as much should have an effect on its availability and possibly keep the price down - for a bit🤞.
However, it's not the same when it comes to diesel, industry mainly use this stuff so a regular supply is needed - at any cost, hence the gap between petrol and diesel prices - it's about 10p a litre at the moment and will get more, - I remember when diesel was cheaper!

I think about that when the poor sods in the Indian sub continent do English at university to graduate level then get a call centre job and have to answer computer breakdown questions from irate Geordies.

Heating oil is up to over a pound a litre now, that means £2000 to fill my tank up - which I shan't be doing at that price.
