AS far as the crook is concerned progress hasnt quite halted "The Wee Crook" phase 1 is underway
https://www.tweedsmuir.scot/wee-crook-refurbishment/
Local residents and passers-by can’t fail to have noticed the work that has been going on at the site of the Crook Inn. Phase 1 of the redevelopment plans is well underway, with the refurbishment of the old steading building to form The Wee Crook cafe and licensed bistro.

The site itself has changed quite a bit, with a single clearly-defined access from the main road, leaving areas for parking, picnicking and recreation. The leaky flat roofed extension at the rear of the main building has been demolished, making The Crook itself watertight and secure.

But the biggest changes are with the Wee Crook itself. The building has been extensively repaired with new roof beams, solid floor and windows. New services have been laid on, including installation of enormous septic tanks for drainage in the grounds to the other side of the main road – the development is as future-proof as we can possibly make it.

MOnmouthshire hasn't had its day in the spotlight yet but maybe when it does a little consideration may be deserved of the Tubewrights of Newport, enterprising enough to supply Peebles with Tubewrighting services in construction of this footbridge.

If trivia investigation turns up a bit more about our DS1 it can be posted up there, but for now Peeblesshire is done, thanks for the contributions, yes including my own which I enjoyed digging out. Might have a wee jock next time we see it in the shops, and it would be interesting to see how the Wee Crook is getting on should we pass by, and maybe sample their coffee and cake.

I will close with a tribute to the old workhorse the Vauxhall Vectra which more than served its purpose for many years.
Clicked the shutter at this "significant" mileage mark, while staying at Peebles engineered to have a pleasing trip-o-meter too.

If anyone would care to move us on to the next County random Selection please do.

These are the Counties remaining
counties left 2.png
Please use this random Number Generator to select the County, as has been done for all the previous 74 Counties.
I have changed the numbers for the countdown to the finish. Simply put the range 1 to 18 in the generator input box and click generate and post up the county selected.

Maybe, they're all within reach of my place but while the nearest Tesco is free maybe not, I could get there and back to all of them without needing to charge.

Having looked at a fair number of County's websites during the course of this thread I have to say that I think Monmouthshire's site is one of the best. Very comprehensive coverage of many aspects of the county and well worth a browse. This:

For those of you that have been following this thread, this should not be too difficult at all. Time for another of my mystery men!

Who is this and what is the connection with Monmouthshire?
