Citroen C5 X7 problem
Hello! My car (1.6 eHdi 2011, egs gearbox) started showing the error "Engine fault, repair needed" and after the car wouldn't accelerate as fast as before, to fix it I need to shut down and start the car again. Ar first I thought it was Something about the turbo, I used a diagbox and I had multiple errors( 1 that I know about because airbags are not coded, 1 for dpf and 1 for fan) but nothing for the turbo. I proceed to delete the dpf and fan ones and waited for the car to give the error again (in a 400 km drive I would have to restart the car 4 Times - so 4 errors in 400 km). After those 400 km when I arrived the fan would continue working on full speed for 5-10 minutes even If the car was shuted down and the key in my pocket and I've noticed when driving or just staying with Engine on that the fan goes full speed more often than usual. So I decided to make the 400km back home without AC and Guess what, the error didnt appear at all, the car runed perfectly. One of these days I will use the diagbox again, anyone else had this problem? What advices do You give me.

For a start, post the error codes up that you had along with your VIN if you want some help.

Re: Citroen C5 X7 problem
Ok, so here are the official fault descriptors for your engine management system. First thing I would do is to look at the fan control unit as these can fail over time. But these should give you some pointers:
Fault Code: | P0494 |
Description of Fault: | 2 speed cooling fan : Incoherence between the reference value (low speed) and the status of the fan assembly. Incoherence between the reference value (low speed) and the status of the fan assembly (For 5 seconds). Conditions of activation of the diagnostics: Engine running |
Conditions for Fault to clear: | Activation of the cooling fans unit |
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: | - |
Symptoms: |

Suspect Areas: |

Fault Code: | P0495 |
Description of Fault: | 2 speed cooling fan: Incoherence between the reference value (high speed) and the status of the fan assembly. Incoherence between the reference value (high speed) and the status of the fan assembly (For 5 seconds). Conditions of activation of the diagnostics: Engine running |
Conditions for Fault to clear: | Activation of the cooling fans unit |
