Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
Conspiracy nutcases are another for room 101. The last two years since the pandemic started seem to have dragged them all out the woodwork.

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
Not that I personally attended this but some of the younger generation of the family did.
The great Ed Sheeran Concert/Stadium of Light water rip-off goes into my personal Room 101.
Conveniently the staff at the stadium of light bars hadn't read or been briefed on the conditions under which the concert goers bought their tickets through Ticketmaster.
Only "free water" on offer was if you paid £2.50 for a small bottle.

Bottled water in any form can go in room 101.

Can I add this sentence from the hydrogen story, as Maggie Thatcher said "Governments don't have any money it all comes from the taxpayer."
To support its ambitious plans, it has secured funding from the UK Government for a feasibility study

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
People who buy fully spec'd cars second hand on the cheap and then can't afford to replace things like a bulb and want to cut corners.... People should factor in running and maintenance costs before they buy it instead of crippling a car and leaving the next person to own it with all the problems.

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
Spellchecker!
I admit that I rely heavily on it. I can spell but have Eric Morecambe syndrome; all the right letters, not necessarily in the right order (sometimes back to front
).
Recently, despite having a UK dictionary installed, it very frequently flags words up and wants to replace with the American version of the spelling. No-one wants that mess importing
The one that triggered me was it wanting to replace 'passivated' with 'passivize'
they have to have their bloody zee's in everywhere.
It also flagged Morcambe, thought that it should be 'Precambrian'.
I despair.

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
Wasting time looking for stuff.
Todays items were
A seemingly insignificant plastic clip, and a pipe-bending "pyramid" made up of different sizes of bend, to form brake pipe around.
Firstly the clip. This helps clip the offside front brake pipe reasonably close to the inner wing, and keeps it out of the way of the auxiliary drive belt and its various pulleys. Without it, even to my eyes never mind a tester, the pipe is insecure. So the search commenced...I knew I had had it and thought I had put it somewhere where it wasn't.
Fruitless, so resolved to create a different route for the pipe. This would involve far too much spatial awareness, tight bends and trial and error with spare pipe to come up with the shape, and also use of the second of the search items, the pipe-bending assistant metal pyramid...I knew I had had it and thought I had put it somewhere where it wasn't.
Much later after much searching, often the same places multiple times, first to be found was the metal pyramid, down in the depths down by the battery in the engine bay, wedged in an unlikely position.
Second to be found was the plastic clip, even later after lunch. Not in anywhere remotely involved in working on the car, but on the kitchen worktop where someone had put it down for some unknown reason, although thinking again it could well have been a hand-washing event.
Into my personal 101 goes wasting time looking for stuff, even though it's my own fault!
Regards Neil

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
Changing dialogue in films for political correctness. Channel 5 are currently showing "The Dam Busters", and they have altered the dialogue so that Guy Gibson's black Labrador is now called either 'Trigger' or 'Digger'. I know that the correct name is considered offensive to some people, and on a different channel (when this film was shown) a disclaimer was shown (at the beginning of the film and at the end of each advert break) explaining that there was language that some people might find offensive that was of that era.

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
My personal gripe today is a very long standing one so there is nothing else for it than to dump it in here!! What is it you ask? -
The 'never show this again' checkbox in the 'Do you want to stay signed in' window that appears whenever signing in to a Microsoft service such as Outlook. I must have ticked that box more times than I have repeated any other action but never once have I got through the sign in process without that window appearing!!!!
