But did you know that there were two Darrins? Played by two Dicks. Dick York to start of with for 5 years and then, after severe back pain forced York to leave, by Dick Sargent for the final 2 years.
A bit of a yes and no answer for me!! I watched the first couple of series and enjoyed them but I took a dislike to Samantha's Mother and stopped watching it somewhere during the next series. Many years later I saw it was being repeated, on C5 I think it was, so I tuned in to watch for old times sake. Obviously it was one of the last two year's episodes because I immediately thought to myself - That's not Darrin!! - so I was eventually aware that he had changed but I didn't realise it was two Dick's!! My main memory is of the original opening cartoon sequence with Dick York on the titles, I don't recall the opening of the later episode I watched!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Thanks Dormouse, pity we cant reopen Fife, but you can always stick some info on Nice places to stop off at, or Pictures of the day if you want to. Montgomeryshire is our County in the spotlight today.

Cant say I'm that impressed with the hostelries in Montgomeryshire. I reckon the Cottage Visitor centre at the Monty Brewery is worth a visit

Owner Russ (who is himself a car enthusiast) contacted us to add The Cottage to our site. He tells us:

” [This is] The brewery visitor centre for the award winning Monty’s Brewery. Montgomery is a stunning historic market town location on the Welsh border in Mid Wales. The Cottage has a large car park, great tasting room, beer tasting sessions and a small conference area for meetings. In the town is a fantastic model car museum with thousands of models. The town itself hosts car clubs such as Rolls Royce, Triumph, who drive through or park in square.”
Make your own mind up Camra's list of Montgomeryshire pubs with pics and info on What pub?.

I have never watched this through or even heard of it, but the story of Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales" was made filmed in Montgomery. The clip starts with the first recognisable outdoor scenes in Montgomery with the appearance stage left of what I presume is a Corona Wagon, when Corona was just pop :-D

While the challenge to find either a pub or a bit of music met with zero response other than yours truly, I am going to draw the curtain on Montgomeryshire's day in the spotlight. Not without answering my own call though.
I'm allowing myself a tangential link with a bit of John Cale, the lad from Carmarthenshire, who missed his own County's day in the spotlight. From his Paris 1919 Album released in 1973, Side A track 1. The title of Dylan Thomas' prose poem whose TV film version of it starring Denholme Elliot was filmed in...Montgomery!

My wife liked John Cale, particularly after Andy Warhol died and I bought "Songs For Drella" for her.

Took her to one of his concerts at The Sage and can honestly say it is the absolute worst gig I have been too. Dreadful.

Spent 25 years of my life there and was still an "incomer" the day I left to some people. However, overall it is a lovely part of the country and well worth a visit - way less midges than the West coast and Highlands. A friend of mine's brother farms sheep on the Grampian hills above Edzell and when he reaches his neighbour to the west it is the Queen's Balmoral estates. On a sunny day it is beautiful up there, but the weather can be truly wicked and many a time I have watched the foul weather roll down the foothills towards our house. I thoroughly recommend a leisurely visit to the area - so many hidden gems and not the same hordes of tourists.
