Boxer 4HU pump learn

Post by frosty125 »

Just replaced the SCV and when I try and do the pump learn I'm getting communications error when I turn the ignition off and back on again when it asks me to.

Your diagnostic tool may not be compatible with the vehicle.

Are you using Diagbox and if so what version of Diagbox?
What year and engine is your Boxer (better still the VIN)?

The S.1279 (original number: 9780.X4 is required for various PSA vehicles. For example for Citroen Jumper 3 or Peugeot Boxer 3.
It is connected between the OBD 2 and the VCI.

Many report problems - missing function - with the cheap Chinese versions.
Sometimes, however, it is also due to the bad China VCI.

Optimal is the original VCI and an original 9780.X4 (p.1279).

I have a Thinkdiag Pro, not a very specialist tool but it's meant to work with this vehicle. It did do the injectors and other special functions. It starts the pump learn but comes up with a communications error part way through.

Am I best getting a Peugeot specialist to do the learns?

EDIT it is a 2011 2.2 Euro 4 4HU

A Thinkdiag Pro is not suitable for this - like other similar diagnostic tools, it can only perform a small part and read and operate all ECUs.
Only original PSA diagnostic devices can do this.
Either commission a Peugeot workshop
or
use a manufacturer-specific tool.
For a vehicle from 2011 this would be the software Diagbox 7.57 with corresponding high quality VCI A.1281 Z and a high quality additional adapter S.1279 (original number: 9780.X4).

Thanks that's a bunch of kit I'm not sure about buying into for one function. Any suggestions on where to have it done in the Greater Manchester area?

I've never used thinkdiag so not sure how good it is but I would have thought if it had the option in the menu it should be able to do it?
Any high end diag kit (Bosch, Autel, Snap-On, Delphi etc) should be able to do this. I used to have Bosch KTS & with the exception of a few things like matching new ECU's, BSI's & keys it could do pretty much everything that Diagbox could do, even things like programming Sensodrive or EGS gear & clutch actuators, change BSI/ECU configurations.
Once a car is 3-4 years old i doubt theres many procedures that need a dealer diagnostic tool.
