Middlesex is going to have to accelerate a bit

Music, drink, pub of the day, registration numbers are regulars that need noting as well as a few quirky discoveries.

The scope is enormous, maybe too much in the area identified, never going to cover everything, but until about 10.00 am Monday it has its chance in the spotlight. Time do do it justice.

Without looking the regs up I am sure we will come across the "OO" area code. Absolutely hilarious for juvenile humour when combined with a P or an L.

Do your best and join in if you can

Having got up to do the airport run at 4.30 this morning I am going to have an early night and look into Middlesex properly in the morning. However here is a video of one of my favourite places in the county:

Looks like we missed out the iconic "OO"'s are Essex Registrations, and we have missed out on that because Essex has had its day in the spotlight.

Really for Middlesex the choice of registration area codes is wide. So shove up a single example. According to wiki these apply pre 74 for Middlesex

H,HX,MC,MD,ME,MF,MG,MH, MK, ML,MM,MP,MT,MU,MV,MX, MY

I think that's enough without delving into Pre 74 London regs too which are even more numerous using hundreds of different area codes.

The Duke of Northumberland's pad when they venture down South, Syon House and Park. The Percy Lion with the stiff extended tail is a particular "trademark" of the Percy's.

Pub of the day Selection

1. I have selected one of Middlesex's Finest Breweries
Fullers of Chiswick
2. Their website has a nice little selection tool so I selected their Pubs in Middlesex thus.
https://www.fullers.co.uk/pubs/pub-find ... =3#pubgrid
3. A list of 29 pubs is produced over 3 pages with pictures, 12, 12, and 5 pubs over the pages. Time for random.org to weave its random magic. 1-29 input and out comes 17 ie Page 2 pub 5.
https://www.random.org/
4 Middlesex Pub of the Day for 30th May 2022 is revealed to the world wide audience and the FCF Faithful.

and what a selection the random hand has produced...the oldest of all Fuller's Pubs :-D

I think the adjective for this film could be "delightful".

I was looking for the Shire Horses dray of Fullers but up pops this little film from those very good filmmakers at British Pathe of Whitbread's Shire horses. Some interesting manual demolition shots as well as a "Drott". Wonder if Drotts are still in existence.

From other info here on the Whitbread Stables, I place them firmly in our County of the Day

One of the Middlesex places which has a story to tell going back to William the Conquerer is Enfield Chase:

Another place in Southall which has gained a local notoriety over the years is Iron Bridge, Uxbridge Road:

In fact Southall itself has an interesting history, the story of which is well documented and I found this particular account worth a read! :-D

Although I did post the video of Lord's I don't think we can leave Middlesex without mentioning the most famous Cricket Club in the world- the MCC.
