Some words on West Lothian from the pages of the FCF tourist guide of "nice places to stop off at"
...and then there is a little gem if you like railways at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway. Yes, it's nice to stand next to a class 37 in blue humming and droning away next to you in the drizzle, but it also has a second hand "book shop" in a couple of carriages. Just the sort I like. Piled high in a haphazard way with all manner of books, magazines, pamphlets and cheap too! 10 mags for a £1 etc. There was an interesting little book from a car hire firm from Lothian Road in Edinburgh with pictures and descriptions of their chaufferred tours in the twenties at £3....fascinating!

Onwards and nice views of the 3 Bridges from the road heading towards Queensferry. The new one is due to open on August 30th 2017.

The "West Lothian Question" used to exercise the MP Tam Dalyell (pronounced Dee-ell) a great deal.

The reg's can be a difficult search, and my go to, old 60's films of the area with cars milling around and photobombing scenes, can be a little frustrating in the quality, especially in old cine films being revived digitally. What is refreshing is a decent British Pathe treatment of some event.

So what are the area registration codes for West Lothian...Pre-74

only 1

SX

Sure I have seen hundreds on my deliberations, but finding them again....

Its a Belhaven Pub, but plenty of handpulls, and if you are lucky the Belhaven 80 bob will be on!

I came across a Formula 1 connection on my travels. He is probably something like Paul Di Resta, who hails from West Lothian and had a seat in one of the lower echelon of F1 teams but didn't get the opportunity to progress in F1.

The Franchitti Brothers from West Lothian also deserve a mention, Dario particularly successful in the USA

He IS Paul di Resta, test driver for Mercedes at the time this picture was taken. Out of interest he was actually the Francetti brothers' cousin!! :-D
