Wheel bolt length?

Hello

I've got a set of free alloys from my friend who is selling his C4. I have a C3 and my problem is that the wheels are touching the inside of the wheel arch when I turn the steering wheel all the way to one side.

I have thought about using 5mm wheel spacers with the alloys. My problem is now that the bolts doesn't fit. It is an genuine citroen alloy so it has the following bolt type:

I have looked for similar bolts just 5mm longer but I can't find anything. My question is, would it be possible to use a bolt with a flat head as the original one but without the conical part?

My understanding is that the conical part is there to be used with steel wheels.

Wrong way round!

Alloy wheels need conical bolts and you must not use steel wheel bolts in alloys. They will not mate correctly, and this has safety issues as less of the surface will be mating. You really need to get some proper advice before just swapping wheels over. Your vehicle was fitted with 16" steel wheels. You need to know exactly what size, make and part number if possible of the wheels from the C4 as they may not be compatible.

My old wheels were alloys. The problem is that the new wheels are 17" and they are also wider than the 16" I used before. The other problem is also that the width of the tire is 10mm wider that is why the rubbing is present.

I have the bolts which were originally fitted to the citroen alloys I have got for free. They also fit my car but as stated the tire is rubbing.

I was then searching for advice regarding using these alloys with spacers so the rubbing with the wheel arch wasn't present. As I can't find a bolt which has the correct length and has the same conical shape with the washer. I wanted to know if it was possible to use a straight bolt without conical part to it and just the washer. To me it looks like the washer is clamping the alloy to the hub and not the conical part of the bolt.

And if this is not the case would it then be possible to use a conical bolt without the washer?

There doesn't seem to be much material from the conical part to the hub so I wasn't sure if a conical bolt without washer would hold up all the forces being applied to the wheel.

Well if it's rubbing the inside wheel arch on full lock left or right most car modding websites will tell you to cut that small section out. Adding spacers could give you a problem on the outside wheel arch, which would require rolling or cutting of the skin. This really needs to be looked at by professionals as it could be a major safety issue if done wrong.
