In fact it seems the change occurs at the M6 exit before the border:

I believe that the A74M was originally slated to be the M6 until the start of the M74. There's even an erroneous M6 sign at the Beattock summit.

I have driven through Dumfriesshire on many occasions but I have only ever actually stopped twice. This is the sight of the first place I stopped at, with my friend at the time, but I did escape untethered!! :-D

I have 37 pictures of Moffat Dumfriesshire from June 2019. Quite a big classic car show organised by the Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts Group at the end of June each year.

I will select 3 purely at random, if they are duff...they are duff :-D

So the selections for my Moffat photos are: Photo number 1, Photo number 10, and Photo Number 15

Number 1
Luck of the random photo...it was taken in Moffat first click of the shutter!

Number 10
10th click of the shutter-nice colour
10th click of the shutter-nice colour
Number 15
15th Click of the shutter-Its a Bristol somethingorother

Sums it up nicely

Random.org is a great little tool. I might have deliberated a while which ones to post up. There was a very nice yellow stag which took my eye, and a line of them in different 1970's colours, not a grey in sight!

I would never have selected the FAB ice lolly advert photo, but it gets its day in the spotlight too, and its a nice bit of colourful art in its own right. :-D

'More chance of going to the moon' was a favourite saying my Mother used to throw at me when my wish was not going to happen. I wonder if this chap in Langholm, Dumfriesshire ever had the same problem?:

Worth starting the thread for that little gem...excellent find Mick. Click on Mick's link if you havent already.
I'm still asking myself why does he consider Langholm to be his home town? Mind you I think if Langholm Council phoned him up for advice he would soon have got sick of it!, although he did commit himself to giving it if ever asked as part of his oath.

There is a decent enough account here, suffice to say if your name is Armstrong you will find some family connection tracing back to the Border Reivers.

A couple of bits if they are findable are mentioned in the account. They crafted a "lunar Tartan" , and a Piper wrote a special tune.
