A slight aside from Flintshire but relevant to North Wales! When we visited Caernarfonshire in part 1 of the thread we were not doing the car registration check. Had we been we would have known that the letters for there were JC. Which is why I bothered to post this as it is a kind of FCF spooky because one of the posts on that county would have satisfied our registration search:

How did I come across this you may be thinking, well while looking for DM's I found this image
which I saved for future use should it arise! When I checked the letters and pool I knew we had already covered it but I still think it worth posting!!

One of my mother's cars in the early 1970s was a Triumph Herald 12/50 with an SAH twin carburettor and cylinder head conversion. Registration number NDM402E but way before digital photographs.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

An interesting place to have gone if near Mostyn in the 90's would have been a visit to a vessel once called The Duke of Lancaster but then known as The Fun Ship:
I am not too sure what the ship's current status is other than it has been repainted black but I can't find out as I have to shoot out!!
More info here

The story of the Flintshire Bridge opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd in 1998 can be found in this video here.
I think on the way back from Betws-y-Coed in North Wales and heading up to the Lake District, we very likely drove over it.
Only on Vimeo do you get it right through to the Queen opening it!

Two breweries of note in Flintshire, with this one claiming the title of "Flintshire Brewery" based appropriately in Flint.
Facer's Flintshire Brewery
Hafod Brewing Company.
The other one of note is in Mold at the old Gasworks the Hafod Brewing Company.

Re: Today's County in the Spotlight:Part 2
There are a fair number of major players with operations in Flintshire including Toyota's engine plant, a Tata steelworks and Airbus plant manufacturing wings for the A330 and A380 airbusses:
There are daily flights of the Airbus Beluga transport aircraft of Airbus wings from Broughton for the smaller aircraft. The wings for the A380, which are too large to be transported by air use a multi-modal transport using Flintshire's roads, the River Dee and the port of Mostyn, also in Flintshire.
However one that surprised me was :
MoneySuperMarket House, St David's Park, Ewloe, Flintshire, CH5 3UZ
the headquarters of this well known website!!

Interesting Mick, I saw a quote "Without us Airbus would just be a bus"
With historic Flintshire encompassing Prestatyn and Rhyl, in could come Carol Voerderman who was raised and educated in Prestatyn and Rhyl from 3 weeks old.
I'll park that in favour of the two towns, starring in a movie, but which one
Here's a clue....It was 1973

Where that water comes from.
An obscure claim to fame, this one. The Milwr Tunnel that has its outfall into the Dee Estuary. What's its claim to fame ? The 10 mile long tunnel - part of which shown in the above photo - actually drains 60 miles of passages and tunnels around North Wales.
"It's well known among the caving community, but lying beneath Flintshire is what is believed to be Britain's longest network of underground tunnels.
The Halkyn District United Mines extending over 60 miles is made up of a labyrinth of mines, lodes and natural caves over several levels.
The company formed in 1928 after amalgamating several existing lead, zinc and limestone mining companies in a bid to continue the driving of the the Milwr tunnel, also known as the Sea-level tunnel.
The 10-mile long passage running from the Dee Estuary in Bagillt to Cadole, near Loggerheads was originally built in 1897 to drain the old Alyn Valley lead mines beneath Halkyn Mountain that were plagued with flooding in their lower levels.
Excluding its branches, Milwr tunnel is the longest single mines drainage tunnel in the UK - draining over 50 veins.
It also created over 60 miles of interconnected passageways across the network - making it the longest network in Britain.
Today, it discharges at least 23 million gallons of water into the Dee Estuary every day."

If my memories are not mixed up that is the film where the girl in the black halter neck top has a bit of a disaster while running for the bus during the titles? If you haven't seen it I'm sure that bit will be on youtube somewhere!!

As we found out when "The Day we went to Bangor" was dissected, in reality the trip was to Rhyl, just that Bangor fitted in better with the lyrics and the tune. So here is Rhyll from the 70's...as featured on Thames TV's "Wish you Were Here"
