I use geograph on a daily basis, and its provide much interesting content on the FCF, and is a tremendous resource of creative commons images. Surprisingly the Geograph project itself has a connection with Oakham, and this establishment, which is surely worth a visit, right next to the station, the Grainstore Brewery and its Brewery Tap.

Now you get good value for money here, maybe a dozen appropriate songs, and a year of Rutland Osprey moments in four and a half minutes and some light entertainment :-D

Well it has to be The Rutles, doesn't it?

Herefordshire the home County of one of the Classics Auctioneers I follow, Brightwells at Leominster.

They havent quite returned to the live auctions with the Auctioneer on the rostrum, and currently have a timed auction on-line. There is one in progress right now, ending from 7.00pm Wednesday 11th May 2022.

Catalogue here
https://www.brightwells.com/timed-sale/5240

I'll restrict myself to one choice from the sale as an example...

I had a great week canoeing on the Wye in 1974 staying in Ross-on-Wye. There is plenty of information about the area on the internet so hopefully easy for members to find something to post! As a start here is a gem for bridge fans, the footbridge at Stallack:

Now you're on my ground, I bought and sold many cars at the Leominster auctions over the years but my introduction to Hereford was much earlier in the 1950s.
The Birmingham company I worked for Watsons (Broad Street) Ltd had small showrooms at both Worcester and Hereford and at weekends and holidays I went to one or the other and helped out on the sales, bicycles motor bikes and cars.
I also made regular evening trips with an Austin A40 pick up, usually with nine bike and one large motor bike, bought in Brum and sold in the other shops.
Some evenings all four of the Brum mechanics took cars in convoy to the shop in Hereford dumped them in the back yard of the Hop Pole Hotel (Now a Weatherspoon's) and returned to Brum in one car.
The city always seemed to have an abundance of beautiful young ladies and at fruit/hop picking time a lot of Romany gipsies.
I still go there occasionally but like all places it doesn't have the draw it used to have.

Just meant to say there are two car auction businesses in Leominster, this is the other one, spent many a late night ride home in some doubtful cars bought here at the Thursday evening sale.

I had a browse through Brightwells auction from Neil's link and found a couple of MG Magnettes, a car I used to yearn for as a teenager. However I also came across this exceptionally rare version of my cherished choice. Having been prohibited from owning one since wrecking my left ankle this really does give me that opportunity again. It has even got AC!! :) :)

Sadly I doubt I can afford it but it is only on £800 at the moment so worth a try!!

We've had a series of short holidays visiting places we had been too before, and a few years ago plumped for Herefordshire and stayed at Kington near the border with Wales.

Herefordshire relatively speaking is a treasure trove of Old AA Village signs, which used to adorn vilages and towns across the county but of which now only a few score exist across the entire country.

Good luck if you go for it Mick, the auto while being great for you will rule out a fair pool of potential interest :-D
The other thing is you could buy, enjoy both any fettling, and motoring for pleasure, and resell should you wish.

I'm sure the tab packet calculation of purchase price, fettling, running costs less resale value could talk you into answering the affordability question! If it still looks expensive express it in £/week or £/day.
