C5 X7 2.0 HDi lower engine stay question

Post by aerodynamica »

Hi all, my C5 has been going very well indeed lately and most of the ailments are fixed now. One thing however, is that when I switch off the engine there is a rattle/knock heard with the engine's final wobble as it switches off. It has done this ever since I got the car back from the so called Citroen specialists who wrecked the steering rack I supplied them to fit. I have been underneath and found the lower engine torque stay can be physically moved by hand slightly at the rearmost fixing at the subframe. The other fixing with the larger diameter rubber bush looks fine. I can't see the details of this other fixing but it can be made to kind of 'rattle' if I wiggle it. I don't know if something was missed out when refitting or if something is just the wrong way up or other. It actually looks tight but there is a sort of gap at either side of the bar where it fits in the subframe bracket and I have no idea if theat's right or of something is missing. Would there be a diagram available to have a look at the assembly and maybe it'll show a missing thick washer or something and maybe a tightening torque to check the rearmost fixing?

This it, Graeme?

Can't find a torque figure for the bolt, but M12, so can be pretty tight!

No 5 is only £2.42 if it's missing

Hi Richard thanks, yes that's it. It is item 3 that's rattling and it's seemingly got the free play at bolt 6. I don't actually know if item 5 is even missing because I am unsure about whether it can be seen. I'm going to have another look armed with this diagram...
