I'm a sucker for a Spitfire, even if it is a replica like this one to be found in our county in the spotlight, the question is: Where will you find it?

Time to move on, another excellent County in the spotlight done and plenty plenty left. Belfast could easily fill a day in the spotlight on its own and has many attractions of interest.

I'll sign off with this from July 2009 when Stena Ferries took us across from Stranraer to Belfast and back again in a memorable day out in Antrim, and a tiny bit of Derry!

Likewise my last and possibly a little trickier question is What has this plant got to do with County Antrim?

Time to move on to the next County, so lets nail that if we can Mick. The Clover...or the "Shamrock" (the name means "young clover") is a well known symbol of Ireland due to its association with St Patrick, and its representation of either the Holy Trinity, or faith, hope and love with occasional 4th leaf being Luck.

Cant quite nail down the specific answer likely to be on your card relating to Antrim. Various locations have an association with St Patrick incl this.

Wiki has this nice black and white image of the border at Carter Bar on the A68 in days gone by, with some less garish and more informative signs than are there now!

Castleton in Roxburghshire is the home of what I felt to be a very foreboding looking building:

I have very few personal stories relating to Roxburghshire other than the one night I stayed in Jedburgh at The Spread Eagle with a colleague who was assisting me in modifying all the base stations on the ICI Pipeline radio system project.

Further details here

On our drive from Wilton to Grangemouth via a couple of base station sites we found ourselves rapidly running out of daylight before we reached the last site so we decided to overnight in Jedburgh and had a pleasant evening in the company of the barmaid and a few locals who were determined to learn about radio!! As my main role was the logistical project management at this point, I left it to my colleague to become involved with the complexities of transmission envelopes and antenna configuration and concentrated on the discussion of the menu with the barmaid. As a result I was well armed when we moved into the restaurant for supper and tucked into my pork and pickle pie with relish while Mike toyed with his meatballs and spaghetti to the point of pushing it aside in favour of two portions of steamed jam pudding and custard!!. After dinner we staged an inpromptu cribbage tournament and managed to retire with only a minor dent in our expenses claim!! :-D

Very much day out territory even if from Sunday the free charger bonus has been stopped! We enjoyed 2½ years Chargeplace Scotland electricity hospitality and generosity, but it was always going to come to an end sometime.

It's an area big on its ruined abbeys Kelso/Jedburgh/Melrose and Dryburgh
