when they changed the bulbs they broke two of the four pins that have the black and red bulb starters, could that have something to do with it? the bulbs light up fine.

Yes? even though it lights up well? what surprises me is not having direct communication with the headlight module, I am not able to find which one to check its wiring and connection

If they broke the pins, there's no telling what damage that has done to any of the components (internally or externally). All the wiring for this system I have is on the previous page, but if you paid a garage to do this and they broke something in the process, then it is down to them to fix or replace it - simple as that.

Unfortunately, it does not depend on them since the error was there before. I have to investigate well next Saturday and try to get the switchboard to have communication at least to see if there are faults or not, that's why I'm looking for the guilty connector of that switchboard, I've seen all its documentation but I haven't been able to understand what the real connector is . I have also searched for real photos without success

Thanks!!!

Hello good,

The communication failure was simply due to not having the lights on. Diagnosis has been passed with them on and it marks two errors that automatically appear again when they are deleted.

The internal wiring of the headlights has been checked and everything seems correct, the headlights have been tested and the right one goes up and down well, it turns well to the sides, but the left one neither goes up nor down nor does it turn.

I can't think of much else to try.

Looking at the fault log, it is seen in the first error log at 165335km short circuit or similar in the ballast (look at the f9 fuse in the compartment but I don't know if anyone else can influence)

It would be good if possible to restart the left headlight with diagbox (motors and others so that it takes the position again in case it gets blocked or out of range)

Thank you!! All the best!

There's nothing you can do to 'restart' the headlight. As I said, the process is part of the self-check system when the lights are activated at night or low light conditions or when the windscreen wipers are active. If the system is faulty, you'll get a warning lamp or message.

The motor units do fail - so have you considered a replacement?

I will have a quick look at the fault codes shortly...

Thanks for your reply! I thought of replacing the headlight adjustment motor but for this it is necessary to change the headlight for what I observe. I want to think that it is not really damaged and it has only been a fuse or it has gone out of the operating range by short-circuiting or being poorly connected.

Thanks for your time!

I have no further information on the faults as the data provides no further checks or details unfortunately.

B1101: Headlamp angle motor (Right or left): Malfunction
B1102: Connection between the headlamps: Not characterised
B1109: Right-hand headlamp azimuth motor: Malfunction
B1112: Connection between the discharge bulb and the ballast: Open circuit, short circuit to positive, short circuit to earth
F089: Fault no communication with the directional headlamps ECU: Not characterised

If there is a fault between the bulb and the ballast then you are going to get a fault. I can only suggest that if the ballast has been damaged (connection pins) then that will cause issues back down the line.

The headlamp height adjuster actuator is incorporated in the directional headlamp (the directional headlamps are supplied adjusted).

The directional headlamp dynamic height adjustment is carried out by the following components:
  • One height adjustment motor per directional headlamp
  • One electronic control module for the height adjustment motors
So one thing to determine is if the motor has failed then it may be a new headlamp (as they are combined in the lamp) or troubleshoot connections as mentioned.

Everything was cleaned in the left headlight, the ballast should not influence the movement right? It also put new xenon bulbs and new bulb starter. I still think that a fuse may be the cause or reset the headlamp unit to adapt again

It is also strange that the height and direction regulator does not work on the left headlight at the same time, right? or are they related?

No not strange at all. The system is designed to work together - all or nothing as far as directional lighting is concerned.

Fuse F9 because is for the internal relay contained in the engine fusebox for the directional lighting. You can try replacing it, but I suspect they wouldn't work at all if it was the fuse.

The ballast does affect the system. If you look at what I published on the previous table it clearly states (under 'Loss or failure of at least one ballast(2)'
Ballast(2) On the headlamp affected: The "bend lighting" function is deactivated, the height adjustment motor switches to refuge mode. On the headlamp which is not affected: The "bend lighting" function is deactivated, only the headlamp dynamic height adjustment remains active
(2) refers to "Part of the ECU which switches on the bulb, faulty, not supplied."

Headlight ballasts swapped with no upgrades. what I was referring to, which is strange, is that when doing the test with diagbox, the left one does not go up and down or turn sideways, normally it would be that when doing the test it would fail or only the height adjustment or only the directional adjustment, right? or do they go together?

Assuming the motor inside the headlamp has not failed, then in the event that the directional function is disabled, it would maintain the height correction function - again as I indicated above: "only the headlamp dynamic height adjustment remains active" - which is the vertical up and down movement to prevent blinding of oncoming traffic.
