Hydraulic actuator oil semi automatic gearbox

Post by Madalin Stan »

Hello! I've recently changed the transmision oil for my 2011 C5 1.6 eHdi with a semi automatic gearbox. I've heard that the gearbox has an hydraulic actuator that also needs oil changed, but I can't find what type of oil I should buy. Any advices? [-o<

The oil for the clutch and gearbox actuators is completely different and separate from the gearbox oil.

You can replace the manual gearbox Oil without touching the actuator system which is separate.

If you somehow wanted to replace the actuator oil it requires special oil:

Be warned that you cannot just top the actuator oil level up, as the whole actuator hydraulic system needs to be depressurised first with a diagnostic tool and the oil level only checked and topped up if necessary when this has been done, then repressurised. Failure to do that can lead to overfilling and destruction of the system.

To be honest I would steer well clear of anything to do with the actuators. These need specialist attention and require special operations if they are worked on using diagnostic tools including the depressurisation / guided procedures in diagbox for filling ands re-pressurising. There is nothing specifically mentioned on replacing the oil for these systems on the servicing schedules.
