Hi my Peugeot 3008 62 plate has a stop start eco system. I have to turn this off all the time else when I stop it will squeal like a pig and cut out. It is absolutely fine as long as I remember to turn it off, but with my memory that doesn't always happen.
Any ideas anyone or do I just keep turning the eco system off?

Re: Peugeot 3008 eco system.
If you are referring to the Stop Start system, then no, it's not something you can permanently turn off. You need to switch if off once the engine has started. Once the car is stopped with ignition off, and then restarted you need to repeat this.
It shouldn't be squealing anyway, so either you may have a bad / loose accessory belt.

Re: Peugeot 3008 eco system.
Most likely the reverse tensioner on the aux belt has failed - there are 2, one in the normal running direction, the other in reverse to provide tension when the alternator restarts the engine. Trouble is, it spends 99.9% of its time running the 'wrong' way which wrecks the spring, then when it is called on it just flattens out, and the belt goes loose and it squeals.

Thanks Richard that sounds like it could be it. Is it worth getting it repaired?

I would think so, as otherwise it is probably overstressing the forwards tensioner which will also fail eventually.

Any idea roughly what something like that might cost?

Re: Peugeot 3008 eco system.
Looks like you can get a kit of both tensioners and belt for around £150 and probably a couple of hours labour to fit, so <£250 all in I would have thought.
