Unread post by RALDEA »

I have just bought a C5 and changing the front brake pads for the first time, does anybody have any tips on how the caliper pistons
operate,do they push back or screw back

On my BX they screw back, but as my car is about 3 generations behind your car, that may not be a lot of help. If the pistons are circular, with a raised circumference with 4 square-edged indents in it, then getting a file, flat-bladed screwdriver or similar into them and turning will screw them back in. But it's a laborious process and takes a while.

The pistons also have to be screwed back. On one side you have to turn clockwise, on the other side conterclockwise. There is an arrow on each caliper that shows the direction !
