In my own ignorance, I wouldnt pronounce it like any of the you tube examples. My approximate phonetic would be

Cur.....coo....bree....shire.

I assume that is a tongue in cheek reference to the man who drove in a green and yellow helmet not dissimilar to the one in my cabinet displayed during the Radnorshire day?

If I had been born in as beautiful a place as this I might have been a bit more poetic, the link below takes you to a blog about it rather than the usual wiki references!! :-D

One of Ayrshire's biggest attractions is the game of golf. There are countless pages on the internet covering all sorts of golfing things in Ayrshire so I have picked out a token picture and a link to whet the appetite of the mildly curious!! :-D

Yes Ayr Town Centre has slipped into my thinking as Ayrton Senna, from a trivia question in Cheers North East Magazine's the dirty dozen quiz.

Will avid readers of the FCF remember this story from an old pickled egg quiz question about one-legged stools.

The only golf hole on a championship course I can name is in Ayrshire, and that hole is the wonderfully named Postage stamp.

Even if you know nothing about Golf the name alone conjures up a very tricky hole, probably with a very small green.

If I recall right it first came to my attention in the open Tom Weiskopf won.
