Lincolnshire has played quite a part in my life as it includes Tattershall Lakes, one of my favourite fishing sites where I stay in a caravan with its own jetty for fishing!! However I'll dig out some pictures of that later, in the meantime to keep up the tradition here is the county flag:

We had a little holiday in Lincolnshire in 2018 for the simple reason we had never been there before :-D

So here's some local wildlife we spotted on Safari. There were some very rare wildlife, a few pairs of Nightingales at pretty much their most northerly outpost were causing a bit of a twitcher stir at the Nature reserve near to where we were staying.

I'll put the answer in the spoiler but photographed this on a very sunny day with a decent traffic jam flowing through the centre of town. Dont know if there was a bit of horse racing on that day. Just noticed but wouldn't have had a clue at the time, that the flags on the buildings look very much like the Lincolnshire flag.

As I mentioned earlier I like to go and stay in Tattershall Lakes Park to enable easy fishing conditions. Unfortunately I cannot find any of my pictures from there at the moment. I usually rent a caravan sited similarly to the middle caravan (arrowed) in the picture so you can see how easy the fishing is!! :-D

The added advantage of staying there is that the park is only a couple of miles from RAF Coningsby, home of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight:

So apart from spotting the various aircraft as they arrive and depart, the flight path being just to the side of the park, you also have the opportunity to visit the airfield and the onsite museum. I generally spend one afternoon there when the fish aren't biting!! :-D

All the information is here.

My itinerary for the Lincolnshire weeks is invariably the same:

Day 1 Drive to caravan and settle in. Go for dinner in local pub.

Day 2 Fishing with picnic lunch while SWMBO pleases herself. Go for dinner in another local pub

Day 3 Day out to a resort, usually Skegness for Fish and Chip lunch and then strolling along the beach or promenade and the amusements etc. Dinner in hotel on the way home.

Day 4 as day 2 but with visit to Coningsby in the afternoon and then fish in the evening.

Day 5 Drive home via pub lunch.[/color]

We find it gives us a great chance to unwind while not getting bored!! Of course sometimes the weather interferes and we adjust the days accordingly, but that is the basic format!! :-D

We should be up in Caithness in a few weeks so will take some modern pictures just in case, unless it arrives before I do.

Here's a fairly watchable guide to Lincolnshire, you'll need 23+ minutes or so! :-D

I'll unspoilerify the answer to this, may seem obvious Lincolnshire Market town, and the horse racing clue would have given it away to followers of the turf, its the only Horseracing course in Lincolnshire.

Didn't set foot in Lincoln Cathedral on our little holiday. Didn't fancy the turnstiles, don't have them at Durham!

Only a cursory link to Lincolnshire, but....

"The Lincolnshire Poacher was a powerful British shortwave numbers station that transmitted from Cyprus from the mid-1960s to June 2008. The station gained its commonly known name as it uses bars from the English folk song "The Lincolnshire Poacher" as an interval signal. The radio station was believed to be operated by the British Secret Intelligence Service."

Oh, and it's also a cheese. Lincolnshire Poacher, that is, not the numbers station :-D

On the motoring front at Louth, there is one of those businesses decicated to a specialist service.

Renault Reborn
I know this restoration well, having seen it in its original state under the tarp at a friends house for a good number of years before he decided to get it restored :-D
