Caernarfonshire is a really great place for a holiday, plenty of interest. One of the jewels this, with original pictures. We was there :-D
It was rivetting!

More than just a steam train Neil, that particular locomotive has an interesting history being one of the last steam locos to be withdrawn from BR service:

The story is here.

Presumably its real name was to have been 'The Robin Hood' but it had to be disguised to protect the innocent!! :-D

Interesting Mick thanks for digging that out. Conwy Castle provides a superb background for railway photography.

On my travels I came across an image of a loco called the Conway Castle plying its trade on a railway in your former (yes and probably still is) stomping ground.

See if you can find a pic for a tenuous link to one of Caernarfonshire's finest castles :-D

Dont know if he was there, but in his speech Charles name-checked him as "a very memorable goon".

I may be wrong, but can just about hear his voice where I have started the short ITV Black and White Video. The full BBC Colour video coverage is available on you tube if you have nearly 2 hours to spare. It does cover Charles speech though, is in glorious colour shows Caernarfon Castle at its best, and will have its interesting bits, and plenty of clipped English commentary.

Back to Neddie Seagoon, possibly...belting out the final line of "God Bless the Prince of Wales"

So is this in Caernarfonshire? Well its not Anglesey, and its north west Wales, so every chance.
AA Box 580 Boduan, Gwynedd: on A497 (Nefyn-Pwllheli) around 1 mile south of junction with B4354

Criccieth is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales and is known as "The Pearl Of Wales On The Shores Of Snowdonia". This is a rather apt description of the town that has vistas to rival those found anywhere in the world. Criccieth is an ideal location for holidays and vacations to suit all. Come to North Wales, come to the historic town of Criccieth.

I'll complete mine by quoting a post I made on the nice places to stop off at thread
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 12 May 2016, 21:36 ....North Wales...all of it.

Just been on a little tour of North Wales based in Betws-y-Coed. Loved it Proper rocky mountains, fantastic castles, iconic bridges, railways all over the place, totally excellent destination for a little holiday. I love the traditional seaside resort as well, and enjoyed LLandudno and had a drive up the Great Orme. The wide prom is something else and in its heyday would have been a sight to behold. Just like the Mall in London, I suspect the red chippings in the tarmac, came from Northumberland's own Biddlestone Quarrry in the Cheviots.

When I was looking to buy a garage business back in the 1960s I went to view one in Llangefni, but it was just a shop with petrol pumps no workshop or or room to put one.

All these Welsh counties that seem to change names and borders is confusing.
It also has me wondering again where my mother came from.
Grandad was Welsh, Gran from Staithes (Actually Cowbar) Mother born in Staithes then they moved to Wales where she grew up. Spoke Welsh and could say Llan...whatsit fluently. Also spent all day singing, in Welsh.
She did say where they were from but can't remember now.
