Notchy Gears

Post by ezee_duzit »

I have a P2 306 1.8XS, when changing through the gears they don't seem as smoothe as they should be. Feel quite notchy?
Any solutions?

Do you need to change/top-up gear box oil? Could this be the cause?

Don't want to sound patronising but have you checked the clutch cable is fully releasing. Get someone to sit in the car and press the clutch pedal to see if it operating the clutch lever fully at the gearbox.
Also make sure your any carpet matting is not sitting under the clutch pedal. I've driven quite a few cars where just the thickness of the mat caused notchy changes.

Only done 63K, clutch seems fine, have checked the cable as had similar problem on previous car which need a new cable but that doesn't seem to be the problem this time round.
