Also there was an exhibition here where REME had stands showing their work, stripping and rebuilding a Jeep in x minutes and other stuff like a demo of a diesel injector set up as a flame thrower.
Met one of my old school mates there, he was in the catering corps stationed in Taunton with the Somerset Light Infantry.

I was typing that last message as you stuck the Warwick one in Neil. :)
I suppose the first for Warwickshire must be Shakespeare Country.

I have two instant recalls of Warwickshire, the first was my introduction to the Cavalier as I happened to write in Zel's blog a few days ago.

The second from the same course at Warwick is a quotation from a fellow student at the end of course round up meeting in the hall. The question was "What will you take away with you from this week's experiences?" Hands went up all over the place but one chap who had been on the fringes for most of the time came out with this gem which has stuck in my mind ever since!:
Spoiler: show
"As I slide down the bannister of life, I shall remember Warwick as the splinter in my bum!" :-D

On a cricket theme Warwickshire have also had their fair share of West Indian Cricket Legends.

Brian Lara famously scored 501 not out for Warwickshire against another first class county.

Probably one for MIck....Who were the opposition :?:

Can't recall the result of that match, huge scores sometimes result in draws!

Another West Indian great played most of his first class career with Warwickshire, but also had a link with Ashington Northumberland, and has a pub named after him in the town.

Sunil Gavaskar named his son after him.

another quick quiz.....Who is that former Cricketer :?:

Spot on, played for Ashington at one time in his career. The Wetherspoons in the Town is called the Rohan Kanhai.

Spot on, he played 3 seasons with Ashington in the 1970's and the Weatherspoons in the Town is called the Rohan Kanhai.

I scanned the list of Warwickshire players and came up with two options, Kanhai or Lance Gibbs. Since Gavaskar was a batsman I plumped for Kanhai!! Lance would have made a better name in my opinion!! :-D

The 3 seasons in the 70's may be a wiki "fact" haven't checked it out. More likely to be in the 1960's played for Ashington Cricket Club in 1964, 1965 and 1967.

One of your quiz questions could be "Where in Warwickshire are cocks green?" :-D
