Pop Quiz

Different type of quiz this week - a simple (Ha!) "What links the following ?"

Each separate question contains artists/bands/songs that are linked in some way. It might be to do with the lyrics, it might be to do with the way it's performed, it might be to do with the artists themselves, it might be a common theme, it might not be musically related at all and the answer is staring you in the face. The answer could be almost anything and most of them will require some form of research - so on this quiz it's 'No Holds Barred' - use your search engine of choice, and more than likely Youtube or similar for some of them.
I'll not be commenting on scores until I reveal the answers on Sunday evening, though if you're desperate to know your progress then PM me As before, answers in a spoiler please so others can play along

Heardle


Heardle...got it again with 16 seconds and sounds like Evanescence clue. Searched "bands like Evanescence", and at number 10 was the correct band. Put their name into the Heardle search box and a few of their songs came up, second one tried was the right one.

Only one TOH on the pop quiz, number 5 which I have an answer for just now. Bit of delving definitely needed for the rest, although if I could drop Don Henley off I would have a TOH suggestion for number 2.

The extent of my musical ignorance is being further exposed every day and this quiz helps me understand why. I only recognise 8 of the named artists and, this is the significant point, I have no interest in learning anything about all the rest!! So given that I am not going to listen to the rest I will settle for the 3 answers contained within the questions!! So here is my suggestion for those:

1. All the initials are well known abbreviations for other things, Member of Parliament, No Charge, Frequency Modulation!

6. All contain elements of the environment, Sun, Tide, Wind

9. The stages of an accident. Fall, Tears, Cure!!

For me a familiar collection for most if not all, and In Deep, "Last night a DJ saved my life" one of the classics of its genre . Annoyingly still trying to fit Don Henley - Dirty Laundry into a link on that question

There is a definite phone ringing sound effect in Is Vic There, Einstein a go-go, and Last Night a DJ Saved my life, and yes in one of the versions of Dirty Laundry there is a faint telephone ring sound effect about half way through. The original seems to be copyrighted out of existence on youtube, and may be more distinctive on that.

Surely not...there is a time check in each song eight-fifteen in Enola Gay, twenty past two in Too nice to talk too, four a.m. in the morning Moonlight Shadow, and three time checks in Orchard road 12.00, 12.10 and 8.00.

Well having sneaked a peek at Neil's answers it's looking like I've managed a UK Eurovision score -- Nil points!! Unless a little sympathy for my situation gains me a point or two for humour? or maybe a point for spotting the commonality in number 6?

I chose the one on the left for the Worldle first attempt so ended up with a 2
Wordle 4, Nerdle 5, and
Heardle, got the song but foolishly chose another version of it for an attempt before getting the more well-known one in 16 secs.

What is a slightly improved result on the rdles today, 2, 3, 4 and never heard of track or artist!! I had a lucky strike on Worldle using the drop down list from the bottom up!!
