Cumberland? Did that not morph into Cumbria? How old is the list we are using? :-D

My only memory of Cumberland is that it had a gap.

Thanks Bobins, The USP of the thread is its randomness, and I would like to preserve it. Even if by random selection Northumberland and County Durham's day in the sun comes at selection 91 and 92. So like I said to Gibbo Warwickshire's turn will come as will Peter's Caithness!

Deliberately so its the historic counties of the United Kingdom as per the list and in due course Westmorland will also appear.

This is the Historic County Of Cumberland. Doesn't include all of "the Lakes", and the bit at the bottom was part of the Historic County of Lancashire.

I like the name of Jennings for a Brewery. Dont know exactly why. Used to read the Jennings books by Anthony Buckeridge, and in the late 70's Jennings Bitter and Jennings Mild on good old fashioned handpulls, were standard fare in the Duke of Wellington in High Bridge Newcastle. They are now Part of Marston's and no Jennings family connection anymore but still brew at the Castle Brewery Cockermouth.

Cumberland is good for old fashioned fingerposts. There is a very little visited patch of the county next to the Scottish Border, and it is a treasure trove of such things.

This one is from the world famous settlement known as RoadHead.
