My daughter lives just a quarter mile along the road from Gibson Island Neil, sent me a souvenir plaque with the long and lat on. :)

I have struggled a bit with Leicestershire and here's a contribution scraped from the very bottom of the Leicestershire barrel. I quite like the former ambition of the pioneering Leicester Forest East Services, with its restaurant over the motorway and a terrace you could sit alfresco at and enjoy the ambience of the motorway traffic.

Somewhere there will be film footage of it, but for now I'm afraid we are left with the niche hobby of videoing different lifts in different locations so here is a Schindler at Leicester Forest east Services...

If you feel a little peckish, here's the menu from the Motor Grill at Leicester Forest East from 1977

In the news today.....

British astronaut Tim Peake is to open a new £100m space research hub.

Space Park Leicester will act as a base for scientists, researchers and businesses to work collaboratively across laboratories and offices.

Lovely film of Leicester City training in the relative old days. First bit in colour, you will spot Gary Lineker (0.54), and the back end of the video is just a joy, of football manager cliches and a very muddy England and Leicester goalkeeper and descriptions of the players like this....

Rodney Fern. "He's very very good on the heavy grounds"

How many modern players are heavy grounds specialists these days :?:
