Xantia central locking loom

Unread post by j_roc »

Evening people, the drivers side door was replaced in my Xantia (before I bought it) and the bloke who owned the car did not do a good job - Instead of unpluging the multiplug from the central locking unit inside the drivers door he just sliced through 10 or so wires, all of them green and 1 brown btw, then replaced the door (from a later Xantia as it has IT'S own multiplug hanging inside the door with 2 brown wires instead of the pre-mentioned 1) and he did not bother to wire the system back up, hence no central locking and no alarm. The big question is can the later central locking unit be wired up to my 1993 Xantia sx? How would I go about the problem of the diffrence in wires? Does annyone know where I could see a wiring schematic of the central locking/alarm for my car. Much appreciated.

I expect the wiring diagram is in haynes - and if you search this site you will find where you can download one. the file seems rather large and if you have dialup the car will probably have rusted away before the download is complete.
Otherwise you can buy a haynes either new or on e-bay.

I already looked at a Haynes owm (thanks annyhow) and it made as much sense as me talking in gibbon. If I knew what the wires (on the control box in the console) numbers were - from 1-9 then I could use a tester on each wire one by one and then (for example) connect wire no 4 up to pin 4, but the control box aint got numbers printed on it. Thanks Jeremy all the same. Any other ideas people?
