Good evening everybody...
Wondered if anyone else has had issues with a starter motor packing up and dying on them several times. I've had it replaced 3 times now in 2 years. What could be causing the issues. Any help or advice appreciated.

Who replaced them and who supplied them?
There is a somewhat notorious supplier of certain parts, including starter motors.
I had to have one replaced but told the mechanics to fit OEM or similar quality parts, which he always did.
It was still working perfectly when the car was retired several years later.

Ive had one that packed up the same week i got it.. ebay , i returned it only to find out the seller was cleaning old units to look new then selling them for £95 as reconditioned units
They wasnt.
If you can afford it by from a trusted car parts shop make sure it has a good warranty period more than a year.
As regards the amount of starters your cars had id make sure they are compatible to your cars voltage or make sure your alternator is to blame.

I had to replace the starter motor on my first C5. I got a reconditioned (by Bosch) motor from GSF (for around £110), and when I returned the old motor to them (in the packaging provided) I got back about £50. I don't know how long it would have lasted, as the C5 was written off about a year later when somebody went into the back of her.

By any chance was it an RTX branded starter motor from Euro Car Parts?Samantha207 wrote: 15 Mar 2022, 21:16

What sort of journeys does the car do? Vehicles that are used for door to door stuff like deliveries will wear out a starter quicker than normal.
