Suspected Dodgy Garage in Bermuda
After having a major service performed on my 2006 Partner van I discovered this:
It had an issue with shutting down mid journey without warning.
Got it back from garage and saw that they had NOT checked all fuel lines - assuming this is an inline fuel pump that needed a new jumper wire direct to the fuse panel.
As can be seen, there is an obvious split in the rubber line at the base of the fuel pump.
It idles at 1050rpm which seems high. Perhaps to mask the suspected fuel issue?
Thoughts? I havent gone on a long drive yet; planning a drive of 50km asap for a test run.

Splits will suck in air and that causes alsorts of running issues well done on you for checking yourself , i personally dont trust a mechanic or garage i dont know only the ones i do i trust .
New length of fuel pipe new clip easy job just watch the fuel spillage , best to you.

I'll pop over with the part and fit it if you pay the air fare.

That to me doesn't look like an original fuel pump, I've worked on more than these i could count with DW8 engines & ive never seen one with an electric lift pump. I cant see any reason to fit this to the van that never came with it unless it was trying to mask a problem.

My VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] and i'm looking to be able to get spares online but always run into issues with specific part numbers.

Re: Suspected Dodgy Garage in Bermuda
I'd be worried about why there is an inline fuel pump fitted that shouldn't be there.
Looks like the fuel pipe that's been butchered to fit that fuel pump only comes as a set of 4 pipes that run from the tank & its nearly £100 UK pounds for the pipe set.

Re: Suspected Dodgy Garage in Bermuda
Having never owned a Peugeot before, I am unaware of what should be where! The fuel pump was there when I purchased this (second owner). I will ask the first owner as the pump looks like it is as old as the rest of the vehiclewheeler wrote: 13 Mar 2022, 21:40 I'd be worried about why there is an inline fuel pump fitted that shouldn't be there.

Here is the engine on my other van, a 2002 model (parts vehicle) - no fuel pump
Wondering what parts are interchangeable?

I would imagine most parts will be interchangeable.
I can assure you that the in line fuel pump is 100% not original fitment.

Re: Suspected Dodgy Garage in Bermuda
That pump has probably been fitted as a cheap replacement for a faulty in tank pump which can be quite expensive.

Re: Suspected Dodgy Garage in Bermuda
Thats the thing, they don't even have an in tank pump, its a indirect injection diesel. The only fuel pump (that should be) on this vehicle is the rotary injection pump driven off the timing belt. My best guess as to why its been fitted is maybe an air leak that’s allowing the fuel to run back to the tank?

Re: Suspected Dodgy Garage in Bermuda
Luckily I have a spares vehicle with a DW8 engine. Hopefully the fuel lines are identical.

UPDATE - new discovery (rpms and rear shocks)
So, the vehicle is running and the latest discovery is a higher rpm than expected. Bear in mind that the inline fuel pump is still fitted. I can hear it energize/pump fuel once the ignition is on
Secondly, the van squeaks from the rear when driving. Sounds like an old Bedford squeaking down the road
Here's a few images of what I saw when the rear tyres were changed: Garage invoice says they checked suspension during 75 point checklist..... the jury is out on that claim

What is the part number or equivalent for the replacement shocks?
Is this a likely cause/remedy for the imitation Bedford sounds?
