C5 X7 Accelerator pedal bolts turning

Unread post by Darko »

Hi!

I wanted to remove the accelerator pedal on my 2009 2.7 C5 X7 (LHD) to try to fix the "kick down" switch causing P2131 and P2133 codes.

I tried to remove the 3 bolds holding the pedal in place. Sounds simple. The top one went fine, but for the bottom two ones the bolts just started turning together with the nuts.

Any idea how to fix this? Are those bolts protruding from the chassis or from the plastic plate/bracket the pedal sits on? Looking at the docs, removing the whole bracket sound much more involved job.

I think I might be able to tighten one of them by holding the top of the bolt with pliers and then slowly turn the nut - but I reckon this will take me hours as there's not enough space for a spanner to turn so it takes a lot of effort for each millimeter.

Thanks!

As I suspected, it took me several hours to screw the nuts back. I managed to renew the blood bond with my car in the process.

I did not attempt to remove the pedal further because I feared the bolts would drop out of the hole on the other side.
