Here's the pool

And todays random selection is Number 22 Cornwall

Entries invited, anything goes.

Cornwall, Number 22 has had a very decent airing as a kick off. I see the thread as every so often select a new different county from the 92 at random, and leave give it 24 hours in the FCF sun.

Happy for anyone to select a new county at any time they feel, and always the chance that something new is learned along the way, or a few memories stirred, maybe even an inspiration to visit.

So I'll leave the next county selection to others, just use https://www.random.org/ put 1-92 in the range and tap generate. Check the number against the pool above, and select the county.

Well done with our lightning visit to Cornwall!

Just remembered that my mother was there for a while in basic training (1941) but couldn't tell anyone where she was, so in her letters home said that "The corn is growing high up the wall".
Then moved to the gun battery in Sunderland. Anybody's guess what she used to encrypt that.

From an older complimentary thread, Leicester was the last County in England to be provided with an Original Photo in the County Gallery (Originals Only) thread, as can be seen from this at the time, Leicestershire the only County in England without a star!

Due to the fact that Leicestershire will be tier 3 next week we decided to meet at the county border and conduct our business but it didn't stop me getting a picture of the A6 as it enters Leicestershire from which I claim the final England county. As you can see from the second picture it was an "only just" picture :-D :

Leicestershire was the last County in England to register an official County Flag. July 16th 2021 to be precise.

Don't know where yet, Chelsea about to kick off :-D , but the flush brackets
Spoiler: show
were installed by the OS when they were doing their levelling of England and Wales in the early 20th Century. The stone provides a reference point for theodolites etc. Do know now, Sproxton Lat/Long 52.810189,-0.732245

Way off topic for Leicestershire's day in the sun but it looks like you are on Gibson Island, Maryland USA.
