Without any actual fault codes this will likely be throwing money away replacing parts unnecessarily. There could be another reason why you are getting the message. Unfortunately Citroen charge Anything up to £120. If they have quoted £144, then they are going against Citroen's fixed prices - see below, which include VAT.

As your car is a 2016 model it will need a later version of Diagbox to diagnose it properly, so I'd consider changing dealers if they are over-charging and report the bu**ers.

Those fixed prices are really interesting to see, they definitely tried £144 for the diagnostics as they've quoted me this 3 times now.GiveMeABreak wrote: 10 Mar 2022, 16:39 Without any actual fault codes this will likely be throwing money away replacing parts unnecessarily. They were asking for £288 for the original AdBlue tank diagnostics because they didn't warm the car up and then needed a second go when they had after reading the service bulletin, combine that with all the extras they tried to do under the "free inspection" and I'm pretty certain they're not 100%. That's why I'm curious about this sudden fault, they weren't too happy when I went via Citroen to get the AdBlue tank replacement costs covered and they had already bumped all of the prices up way beyond what was on the final invoice. It just feels like they're trying to recoup a bit by creating an extra job but I've vowed never to return to them for anything.
I had to go to them for the AdBlue stuff to get the ball rolling in the hope Citroen would cover the costs (and they did) but I'd use a local diesel & diagnostics specialist that has the diagnostics kit for something like the EOLYS.

Have you checked if your EOLYS tank simply could be empty?

Re: C4 Cactus 2014 EOLYS tank replacement
Exactly. Interesting to find out, please do let us know!
Also, according to the owner's manual there is no message telling you that eolys is empty. It simply says that SERVICE in the dash means either eolys is empty or that DPF is full.
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, it COULD be that your Citroën dealership messed up when coding your car when they replaced the AdBlue tank. The behaviour you're describing where you can actually get rid of SERVICE with a few starts is different to what I experienced, but still too similar to not look into. Since Citroën here in Denmark mix up eolys and adblue and seem to have quite a few incompetent machanics it could be the same where you're at. Removing the tank is easy

There is a message on 'the tapeworm's ' Cactus. His is a later model than yours Martin.
The Service indicator will become illuminated and fixed, which is also accompanied by an audible signal and a message that the particle filter additive level is too low.
