Driving me mad - Help Needed Please

Post by seangully »

Looking for a little advise, As a little background, My GF Citroen DS3 gave her a risk of filter clogging error on the dash so she took it to the garage, they said it could be multiple things so i set about rectifying them, I have removed the DPF and cleaned it out in DPF cleaner for 48 hours then flushed through with water for half an hour, i have filled the Eolys fluid, using diagbox I’ve told the car the fluid is full, that there is no fluid in the DPF and that the DPF is new. I also fitted a new battery a few months ago and I’ve tested it with my fluke which shows it’s fine with engine off and the voltage increases with engine on so I think the alternator is also fine. While driving i get a warning come up saying eco deactivated and the service light comes on but within a few seconds the service light goes out with the message eco activated and very occasionally i still get Risk Of Filter Clogging but again i would say within 30 seconds the service light will go out. As a side note when I was filling the eolys fluid I tested the pump on a 9v battery and it works fine. I’m thinking maybe wiring to the pump but wondered if anyone had had anything similar. if i clear the codes with diagbox id say 90% of the time they come back before ive even made it back to the global test front page and on the global test the pump shows up itself as fine with no codes.

Pop the VIN up Sean please (automasked on post submission for your security) and I'll check the codes out as they relate to the exact engine ECU on the DS3.

Your U1218 are network data communication faults, so these will come up when one or more items on the network are not communicating with one of the ECUs, in this case likely the Engine ECU. But we'll need to see exactly what the other faults are relating to before we can work out what's going on.

The vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

If needed I can run a diag again and get the exact codes up with pics. Thanks for your help.

That VIN is incorrect Sean. It should be 17 alphanumeric

Ok, so that's better.

These faults both relate to the multiplexed additive pump. Either the communication network or the pump is faulty.

This means the assisted regeneration has been stopped until the fault is rectified.

So looks like a dealer visit to get the pump looked at and a check on the additive pouch - but the pump is deactivated and this will start to cause the particle filter to clog if it can't regenerate, so don't hang about.

Marc, a general question on what you just said.

Assisted regeneration is paused but does this mean that if you get the DPF up to unassisted temperature that regenerations can, and will, take place? I'm curious because I looked at a C4 on Monday and it did a lot of motorway miles but had errors for the Eolys pump.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

That's correct Paul :

Exhaust temperature needs to be 450°C for assisted regeneration or 550°C for natural regeneration. I didn't mention this in my post (I was going to) as I thought this may not be useful for general driving and town driving for example where it may be difficult to reach and maintain.

However the fault is still going to be there if the additive pump is not communicating on the network.

UPDATE

For those that may be experiencing a similar fault, I ordered a new additive pump and after 10 mins of fitting and adding it via Diagbox all seems fine, I’ve done maybe 200 miles of driving and not had any warning etc. thanks for all
Your help Marc.
